The Pedersoli 86/71 lever action droptine rifle in .30-30 combines classic American rifle heritage with modern usability. This 19-inch barrel rifle brings fast handling and quick target acquisition to brush hunting, ranch work, and lever-action competition—all while honoring the design lineage of one of America's most iconic rifle actions. The droptine configuration offers that traditional lever-gun profile hunters have trusted for over a century.

Built on the proven 86/71 platform, this rifle features a tobacco-colored textured polymer stock and forend that deliver weather resistance and durability without the maintenance demands of wood. The oversized loop lever is purpose-built for fast cycling and ergonomic control, whether you're shooting from the bench or swinging on game. The short 19-inch barrel keeps weight down and maneuverability high—exactly what you want in thick cover or when transitioning between shooting positions.

The rifle ships drilled and tapped for offside Picatinny mounting, so you can add a modern optic or iron sight rail without gunsmithing. That flexibility means you're not locked into vintage-only setups; you can configure it for your hunting style or competition requirements. The .30-30 Winchester cartridge remains one of North America's most reliable brush and timber hunting rounds, with proven ballistics and wide ammunition availability.

Pedersoli's attention to mechanical function and build quality shows in every detail. If you're drawn to lever actions for their speed, reliability, and character—and you want a rifle that actually performs rather than just looks the part—the 86/71 droptine deserves serious consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope or red dot on the Pedersoli 86/71?

Yes. The rifle is drilled and tapped for offside Picatinny rail mounting, so you can add optics without modification. Choose a mounting system that works with Picatinny rails and you're set.

Is the .30-30 Winchester good for hunting?

The .30-30 is one of North America's proven hunting cartridges, especially effective for medium-game and brush hunting within its effective range. Ammunition is widely available, and the round has decades of real-world success in the field.

What's the stock made of and why does it matter?

The stock and forend are textured polymer in a tobacco color. Polymer is more weather-resistant than wood, requires less maintenance, and won't warp from moisture or temperature changes—a practical choice for a working rifle.

What does oversized loop lever mean?

An oversized loop lever provides a larger opening for faster, more ergonomic cycling of the action. It's particularly useful if you're wearing gloves or when speed matters, like in competition or when game is on.
