The Magnum Research Magnum Lite SwitchBolt .22LR AR-15 rifle is a lightweight, modern take on the classic AR platform, scaled down to the economical and fun .22LR cartridge. At just 4.25 pounds, this rifle combines AR ergonomics and modularity with the low recoil, minimal noise, and cheap ammunition of rimfire shooting—making it ideal for plinking, small-game hunting, training new shooters, or simply enjoying trigger time without the thump and cost of centerfire rounds. The SwitchBolt design and ambidextrous thumbhole stock give you versatile handling, while the patterned graphite barrel keeps weight down and heat management steady during extended range sessions.
Built on proven AR-15 architecture, the Magnum Lite SwitchBolt lets you apply familiar controls, ergonomics, and many standard AR parts knowledge to a .22LR platform. The integral scope base is ready to accept your optics—whether a red dot for close-range fun or a magnified scope for precision rimfire work. The 17-inch barrel strikes a balance between maneuverability and velocity, and the ambidextrous thumbhole stock ensures comfort whether you're right- or left-handed. One 10-round magazine is included, keeping you loaded and ready to go.
This is a rifle for shooters who want to run an AR without the blast, recoil, or ammunition budget of a centerfire gun. Whether you're an established rifleman building a trainer, a parent introducing kids to the platform, or a seasoned plinker who values accuracy and reliability over power, the Magnum Lite SwitchBolt .22LR delivers genuine rimfire performance in a package that feels right in your hands.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a standard AR-15 and will it take normal AR parts?
The Magnum Lite SwitchBolt uses AR-15 platform ergonomics and controls, so it's familiar to anyone who has handled an AR. However, because it is chambered in .22LR and uses the SwitchBolt system, compatibility with standard centerfire AR-15 parts is not guaranteed. Confirm part compatibility with Magnum Research before assuming cross-compatibility.
What's the best use for a .22LR AR-15?
A .22LR rifle like the SwitchBolt is excellent for training and skill-building on the AR platform with minimal recoil and noise, plinking and target practice, introducing new shooters to rifle fundamentals, small-game hunting (rabbits, squirrels), and high-volume trigger time on a budget. It's a fun, low-stress alternative to centerfire shooting.
Does it come with iron sights or just the scope base?
The Magnum Lite SwitchBolt includes an integral scope base for mounting optics, but does not include factory iron sights. You'll need to add a sight system—either a mounted optic or aftermarket iron sights—to aim the rifle.
Can left-handed shooters use this rifle?
Yes. The ambidextrous thumbhole stock is designed to accommodate both right- and left-handed shooters, making this a good choice for southpaws or ambidextrous users.
