The Magnum Research Magnum Lite SwitchBolt .22LR AR-15 rifle is a lightweight, purpose-built rimfire platform built on the AR-15 action. Weighing just 4.25 lbs, this is a genuinely portable option for plinking, small-game hunting, marksmanship training, or introducing shooters to the AR platform without the recoil or noise of centerfire cartridges. The .22LR chambering makes it affordable to shoot and forgiving enough for newer or younger shooters to build fundamental skills, while the modular AR design means experienced shooters can accessorize and modify to their preference.
The SwitchBolt features a 17-inch patterned graphite barrel—short enough for quick handling in brush or around a homestead, long enough to wring decent velocity from .22LR ammunition. The ambidextrous thumbhole stock gives you solid control and comfort whether you're left or right-handed, and the integral scope base is ready for a rimfire optic, red dot, or magnified sight without requiring separate rings or mounts. One 10-round magazine comes in the box, holding you to capacity-compliant magazine limits while giving you realistic reload practice on the clock.
If you've been running centerfire AR-15s but want a low-recoil trainer, a truck gun for light duty, or a fun rimfire for the family, the SwitchBolt delivers that AR ergonomics and modularity in a lean, featherweight package. Magnum Research built its reputation on rimfire engineering, and this rifle carries that expertise into the AR ecosystem.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Magnum Lite SwitchBolt .22LR AR-15 compatible with standard AR-15 parts?
The SwitchBolt is built on AR-15 platform mechanics, so it shares ergonomics and general compatibility with the AR ecosystem. Always confirm specific part compatibility with the manufacturer or retailer before upgrading or swapping components.
What does "integral scope base" mean, and what optics can I mount?
An integral scope base is built into the upper receiver, eliminating the need for a separate rail attachment. You can install any optic with the correct mounting system — red dots, magnified scopes, or reflex sights designed for AR platforms will work once you add appropriate rings or mounts if needed.
Is this rifle good for training or introducing new shooters?
Yes. The .22LR cartridge has minimal recoil and noise, making it forgiving for learners. The lightweight design and AR ergonomics give new shooters exposure to a platform used across hunting and sport shooting, and the low ammunition cost encourages frequent, affordable practice.
What comes in the box?
The rifle ships with one 10-round magazine. Optics and additional ammunition are sold separately.
