The Magnum Research BFR .500 S&W Revolver in brushed stainless steel is a hardcore handgun built for hunters and shooters who demand maximum stopping power in a wheelgun. BFR stands for "Big Frame Revolver," and this model lives up to the name—it's chambered in .500 S&W Magnum, one of the most potent revolver cartridges on the market. With a 10-inch barrel, adjustable rear sights, and a fixed front sight, this is a purpose-built gun for hunting medium to large game, long-range handgun hunting, or simply making the biggest possible statement at the range. The brushed stainless steel construction handles harsh field conditions and won't quit on you.

At 4.7 pounds and 17.5 inches overall, the BFR commands respect without becoming unmanageable. The Bisley-style grip fits naturally in your hand and gives you solid purchase on a powerful round—the .500 S&W generates serious recoil, and that grip geometry helps manage it. The 5-shot cylinder is typical for magnum-class revolvers this big; when each shot carries this much energy, capacity takes a back seat to reliability and controllability. A clean 3–4 pound trigger pull keeps things crisp, whether you're taking a deliberate shot from a rest or working from a holster.

The brushed stainless finish strikes a balance between form and function—it looks businesslike and wears well in the field. This is not a concealment gun; it's a statement piece for hunters and serious revolver enthusiasts who understand what the .500 S&W brings to the table. If you're considering a BFR, you already know what it's for. Build your hunting battery or prove your mettle at the range with one of the most formidable wheelguns ever made.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the BFR .500 S&W best used for?

The BFR .500 S&W is designed for hunting, long-range handgun shooting, and sport shooting where maximum power is the goal. Hunters use it on medium to large game, and precision shooters appreciate the 10-inch barrel and adjustable sights for accuracy at distance. It's not a defensive carry gun—it's a specialized tool for those who understand and accept the recoil and handling characteristics of a .500 Magnum revolver.

How much recoil does the .500 S&W Magnum generate?

The .500 S&W Magnum is one of the most powerful commercial revolver cartridges, and recoil is substantial. The 4.7-pound weight and Bisley grip design help manage it, but shooters should expect significant kick and plan their shooting sessions accordingly. Proper technique, grip, and stance are essential.

Can I adjust the sights on this revolver?

Yes. The BFR comes with a fixed black front sight and an adjustable rear sight, allowing you to zero the gun to your load and shooting distance. The 10-inch barrel gives you good sight radius for precision work.

What's included with the BFR revolver?

The product information provided covers the gun itself and its specifications. For details on what else may be included (manual, lock, etc.), contact Bosque Outdoors directly.
