The L.E. Wilson Neck Sizing Die Bushing 290 is a hardened stainless steel bushing designed for reloaders who need precise neck tension control. Built to exacting tolerances, this bushing gives you the ability to fine-tune how snugly your cases grip bullets—critical for consistency in precision rifle loads. If you're hand-loading ammunition for accuracy-focused shooting, having the right neck bushing can mean the difference between mediocre groups and tight clusters downrange.

L.E. Wilson manufactures their bushings in .001" increments, which means you get real control over neck sizing. The marked size refers to the middle of the bushing, which is reamed with a .003" taper. In normal operation, the case neck contacts only the middle portion of the bushing. If you need a slightly tighter sizing—say your brass has hardened and lost neck tension, or you want to dial in less "squeeze" without stepping down to the next smaller bushing—you can flip the bushing so the markings face downward toward the case. This simple trick gives you an emergency adjustment option when standard sizing isn't quite right. The bushing is made to specs comparable to Redding neck bushings, so if you're familiar with that system, you'll find L.E. Wilson's approach logical and reliable.

One important compatibility note: these bushings work only with L.E. Wilson dies and will not fit Forster or RCBS reloading dies. Before you buy, verify your die manufacturer. Selecting the correct bushing size is straightforward—measure your loaded cartridge's outside neck diameter and subtract .002" to .003" to allow for brass spring-back, or calculate it by measuring case neck wall thickness, doubling it, adding your bullet diameter, then subtracting .002" to .003". Either method gets you in the ballpark for optimal neck tension.
