The Howa M1500 HCR is a purpose-built 6.5 Creedmoor chassis rifle designed for shooters who want precision performance in a modern, ergonomic platform. Built on Howa's proven M1500 action, this rifle pairs a 24-inch heavy threaded barrel (5/8"-24) with an MDT chassis and fully adjustable stock, delivering the accuracy and handling characteristics serious long-range hunters and competitive shooters demand. The patriotic red, white, and blue finish makes a statement on the range or in the field.

At 12.3 pounds, the HCR strikes a practical balance—substantial enough for stability and precision, manageable enough for real-world use. The 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge has become the gold standard for medium-range hunting and target shooting, offering excellent ballistics, moderate recoil, and proven real-world stopping power. The included two-stage match trigger breaks clean and predictable, and the three-position safety puts control where you need it. Three 10-round detachable magazines keep you loaded for back-to-back strings or a full day afield.

The receiver is machined steel and the bolt is forged, both engineered to tight tolerances. Howa's extractor and ejector system is proven reliable across tens of thousands of rounds. Large internal bolt handle and pressure vent holes, plus stringent headspace specifications, contribute to the safety and consistency Howa is known for. Factory testing with premium ammunition demonstrates sub-MOA three-shot groups at 100 yards—the kind of inherent accuracy that gives you confidence in your shooting.

The MDT chassis and grip, paired with a Hogue grip tool, gives you modern ergonomics and modularity. Whether you're dialing in at the range, hunting open country, or competing in precision rifle events, the HCR's adjustable stock lets you dial in your ideal fit. This is a no-nonsense rifle for shooters who value accuracy, reliability, and American-made quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rifle compatible with a suppressor?

Yes. The 24-inch barrel is threaded 5/8"-24, which is the standard suppressor thread pitch for rifles in this caliber. You can mount a suppressor directly to the barrel.

What is 6.5 Creedmoor good for?

6.5 Creedmoor is a versatile, modern cartridge popular for long-range hunting of deer and medium-sized game, competitive precision rifle shooting, and target work at distance. It offers excellent ballistics, manageable recoil, and a wide selection of quality ammunition and factory loads.

What magazines work with this rifle?

The rifle comes with three 10-round detachable magazines. Any magazine designed for 6.5 Creedmoor will work with this platform, though specific magazine compatibility depends on the magazine design and the chassis.

Does this come with a scope or optic mounting?

The rifle does not include a scope. The MDT chassis is designed to accept standard picatinny rail accessories, allowing you to mount any rail-compatible optic or accessory of your choice.
