The Heritage Rough Rider is a single-action .22 LR revolver built for shooters who want an affordable, straightforward rimfire gun for plinking, small-game hunting, or learning proper revolver fundamentals. This 6-round model pairs classic single-action ergonomics with the accuracy and low recoil that makes .22 LR ideal for precision practice and developing good shooting habits. The black pearl grips and 4.75" barrel give it a compact, handy profile that won't bog you down in the field or at the range.

Single-action revolvers reward deliberate shooting—every chamber requires you to cock the hammer and press the trigger with intention. That mechanical simplicity, combined with the Heritage's fixed sights and smooth action, makes it an honest training tool. At 30.1 oz, it's light enough for all-day carry or casual plinking sessions. The black pearl Altamont grips feel good in your hand and won't wear you down on a long afternoon of shooting.

Whether you're introducing a younger shooter to revolvers, building your .22 collection, or looking for a dependable backup revolver for backcountry trips, the Rough Rider delivers no-nonsense performance without the price tag of premium rimfire guns. Heritage has kept it simple: fixed front and rear sights, straightforward controls, and a proven platform that's been around long enough to prove itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Heritage Rough Rider a good first revolver or training gun?

Yes. Single-action revolvers teach proper fundamentals because every shot requires you to cock the hammer. The .22 LR cartridge has minimal recoil and is inexpensive, making extended practice sessions affordable. The fixed sights and mechanical simplicity make it straightforward to learn how revolvers work.

What's the difference between a single-action and double-action revolver?

This is a single-action revolver: you manually cock the hammer before each shot, then press the trigger. Double-action guns let the trigger pull cock the hammer for you. Single-action demands more deliberate technique, which builds solid shooting habits.

Can I use this revolver for small-game hunting or pest control?

.22 LR is commonly used for small game and varmints. The 4.75" barrel and fixed sights provide adequate accuracy for close-range work. Always follow local hunting regulations and choose appropriate ammunition for your intended use.

What does "black pearl finish" mean?

Black pearl is a dark finish applied to the metal parts. The Altamont black pearl grips match the finish for a cohesive, classic look.
