The Henry Repeating Arms Golden Boy .22LR rifle combines timeless lever-action craftsmanship with practical rimfire performance, making it an ideal choice for small-game hunters, target shooters, and anyone who appreciates classic American rifle design. This H004 model chambers the popular .22LR cartridge and feeds from a tubular magazine holding 16 rounds, giving you plenty of shooting before a reload. Whether you're working small varmints or spending an afternoon at the range, the Golden Boy delivers smooth, reliable operation in a package that feels as good as it looks.

The rifle's 20-inch octagonal blued barrel and Brasslite receiver evoke the golden era of lever-action rifles, but the engineering is modern enough for repeatable accuracy. The American walnut stock and brass buttplate aren't just cosmetic—they contribute to the rifle's balance and feel in your hands. At 6.75 pounds, it's light enough for extended offhand shooting yet substantial enough to absorb recoil cleanly. The action cycles with the smooth, effortless lever motion that separates quality Henry rifles from the rest, and the adjustable buckhorn rear sight paired with a beaded front sight lets you dial in your hold or swap optics if you choose.

If you've been drawn to lever-action rifles but want a platform that won't break the bank or demand expensive ammunition, the Golden Boy .22LR is a proven gateway. It handles like a natural pointer, rewards good technique, and builds the muscle memory you'll carry into centerfire hunting. The tubular magazine loads and unloads easily, and the .22LR's mild report makes it a pleasure to shoot without fatigue—perfect for a long day in the field or the backyard range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ammunition does the Henry Golden Boy .22LR shoot?

This rifle is chambered in .22LR (Long Rifle), one of the most affordable and widely available rimfire cartridges. It will not function with .22 Short or .22 Magnum ammunition.

How many rounds does the magazine hold?

The .22LR version holds 16 rounds in its tubular magazine. (Note: Henry also makes Golden Boy models in .22 Magnum and .17 HMR with different capacities, but the H004 .22LR holds 16.)

Is the Henry Golden Boy a good rifle for beginners or younger shooters?

Yes. The .22LR cartridge produces mild recoil and a low report, making it forgiving and pleasant to shoot for long sessions. The rifle's 6.75-pound weight and balanced handling reward good technique without fatigue. Henry also offers a youth version with a shorter barrel and length of pull if a compact fit is needed.

Can I mount a scope on the Golden Boy?

The rifle comes equipped with adjustable buckhorn and beaded sights. We don't have information about factory optics mounts on this model; contact Henry Repeating Arms or a gunsmith to discuss mounting options if you want to add glass.
