The Henry Pump Action Octagon .22 WMR is a classic rimfire rifle built for shooters who appreciate traditional handling and reliable performance. This pump-action .22 Magnum rifle delivers the satisfying mechanical feedback of manual cycling with the accuracy and punch of a magnum rimfire cartridge—ideal for small-game hunting, target practice, or introducing shooters to the fundamentals of rifle operation. The octagonal barrel gives it distinctive character while the American walnut furniture keeps the gun feeling substantial and time-tested.

The 12-round tubular magazine means fewer reloads during a session, and the adjustable rear sight paired with a beaded front sight lets you dial in your zero without needing to mount optics. At 6 pounds with a 20.5-inch barrel and a 14-inch length of pull, it balances nicely between portability and controllability. The 1:16 twist rate is optimized for the range of .22 WMR ammunition available today. The blued finish on the barrel resists rust while complementing the walnut stock for a clean, functional look that works as well in the field as it does at the range.

Whether you're a dedicated rimfire enthusiast, a varmint hunter, or someone who values the hands-on engagement of a pump gun, this Henry delivers the reliability and accuracy the brand is known for, wrapped in a platform that rewards good shooting technique.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is .22 WMR and what can I hunt with it?

.22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire is a step up in power from standard .22 LR. It's commonly used for small-game hunting—rabbits, squirrels, prairie dogs, and similar varmints—as well as target shooting. The magnum cartridge delivers better velocity and energy than .22 LR while remaining controllable and affordable to shoot.

Is this rifle suitable for a beginner?

The Henry Pump Action .22 WMR is an excellent choice for learning rifle fundamentals. The pump action teaches proper trigger control and sight picture without the distraction of recoil. The open sights encourage good technique, and the 14-inch length of pull fits most adult shooters comfortably. If you're new to rifles, this is a natural platform to build skills.

Can I add a scope to this rifle?

This model is equipped with open sights (adjustable rear and beaded front). The product information provided does not include details about optic rail mounting. If scope mounting is important to your plans, contact us to confirm compatibility with aftermarket scope bases.

How does the pump action compare to a semi-automatic .22 rifle?

The pump action requires manual cycling of the action between shots, which keeps you engaged with the mechanics of the rifle and ensures deliberate firing. Many shooters prefer this hands-on approach for hunting, as it's inherently safer and often more reliable across a range of ammunition types. It's also typically more affordable than a semi-automatic.
