Griffin Silencer Recce 5 5.56mm Taper Mount - High-Performance Tactical Suppressor
- Caliber-Gauge:
- 223 Remington / 5.56 NATO
The Griffin Armament Recce 5 is a 5.56mm taper mount suppressor built for shooters who demand serious sound reduction without the bulk. If you're running an AR platform and tired of muzzle blast—whether you're at the range, hunting, or running drills—this is a compact, hard-use option that delivers genuine suppression in a package that won't turn your rifle into a spear. Rated for full-auto fire, the Recce 5 handles everything from civilian semi-auto AR-15s to military-spec platforms without hesitation.
At 6.2 inches overall and 14.5 ounces, the Recce 5 strikes the balance that tactical and hunting shooters actually want: short enough to keep your sight radius and handling intact, but with the sound-reduction chops to matter. The taper mount design is Griffin's proven interface for quick, repeatable attachment and removal—no tools required if you're slipping it on and off, though proper installation matters. The stainless steel construction finished in high-temp Endura-Kote stands up to sustained fire and field use without coating failure.
Sound signature matters, and the Recce 5 delivers approximately 35 decibels of attenuation on a 14.5-inch 5.56 barrel. That's substantial—hearing-safe territory for most shooters with appropriate ear pro—and performance you can count on across a range of barrel lengths and ammunition types. Whether you're optimizing a precision rifle, running a short-barrel carbine, or just looking to be respectful on the range, this suppressor gives you the flexibility to shoot more and hear less.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Recce 5 work on any 5.56 AR-15?
The Recce 5 uses a 5.56mm taper mount interface, so compatibility depends on your barrel's muzzle threads. If your AR-15 is threaded for a taper mount, yes—the Recce 5 will attach. If your barrel has a different threading standard (like 1/2x28 or 5/8x24), you'll need an adapter or have your barrel rethreaded. Confirm your muzzle specification before ordering.
Can I use this suppressor on a short-barrel rifle or pistol?
The Recce 5 is designed for 5.56mm platforms and performs across a range of barrel lengths. The stated 35 dB attenuation is measured on a 14.5-inch barrel; performance will vary slightly with shorter or longer barrels. For specific short-barreled configurations, verify compatibility with your exact setup.
Is the Recce 5 rated for full-auto fire?
Yes, the Recce 5 is rated for full-auto and semi-auto fire, making it a robust choice for both civilian and duty-rated AR platforms.
What do I need to know about installation?
The taper mount design allows hand-tight attachment without tools under normal conditions. Proper installation on clean threads is important for safe, repeatable performance. We recommend having it professionally mounted if you're unfamiliar with suppressor installation.
