The Great Lakes Firearms AR-15 .450 Bushmaster is a semi-automatic rifle built for hunters and shooters who want serious stopping power in a modern platform. Chambered in the hard-hitting .450 Bushmaster cartridge, this 18-inch AR delivers the kind of terminal performance that makes it a favorite for big-game hunting and close-to-mid-range field work. The compact 35-inch overall length and 6.4-pound weight keep it nimble in brush and timber, while the stainless barrel and white Cerakote finish stand up to hard use and the elements.

Built on a 7075 aluminum billet upper and lower receiver, this rifle has the rigid foundation you need for reliable function and longevity. The mid-length gas system and 0.750 gas block are tuned for the .450 Bushmaster cartridge, cycling the included single-stage 5.5–6 pound trigger cleanly with every shot. The 18-inch barrel sports an 11/16 x 24 muzzle brake (included) designed for quick wrench installation without Loctite, and a 1:24 twist rate optimized for .450 Bushmaster ammunition. Modified M4 feed ramps ensure smooth feeding, and the 5-round magazine capacity reflects the cartridge's power and the platform's intended use.

The 15.25-inch aluminum 6061 handguard runs full-length Picatinny rail, giving you plenty of real estate to mount lights, lasers, or accessories. Mil-spec polymer grip and ambidextrous controls round out the package. Note that this rifle ships without sights—you'll want to add your own optic or iron sights to complete your setup. One 5-round magazine is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sights or optic mounting options does this rifle have?

The rifle ships without iron sights but features a full-length Picatinny rail on the handguard, which gives you plenty of options for mounting an optic, red dot, or tactical light. You'll need to add your own sighting system.

Is this AR-15 good for hunting?

The .450 Bushmaster cartridge is designed for hunting and is known for reliable, hard-hitting performance on large game at close-to-mid range. The compact 18-inch barrel and light weight make it nimble in the field, though you'll want to choose optics and ammunition appropriate for your intended game and distance.

What's included in the box?

The rifle comes with one 5-round magazine and an included muzzle brake. You will need to acquire sights or an optic separately.

Can I use standard AR-15 parts and upgrades on this rifle?

The Great Lakes AR-15 is built on standard 7075 billet receivers and features a Mil-spec trigger, grip, and gas system, so it accepts many mil-spec AR-15 parts. However, because it is chambered in .450 Bushmaster—not .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO—you should verify that any ammunition, magazines, or components are compatible with the .450 Bushmaster cartridge.
