The Great Lakes Firearms AR-15 .450 Bushmaster is a semi-automatic rifle built for hunters and shooters who want serious stopping power in a modern platform. Chambered in .450 Bushmaster—a cartridge that punches well above its weight in hunting applications—this rifle pairs the familiar controls and ergonomics of the AR platform with the capability to take large game at intermediate ranges. The 18-inch barrel, threaded 11/16 x 24, keeps the overall length compact at 35 inches, making it handy in the field without sacrificing velocity or ballistic performance.

Great Lakes Firearms engineered this rifle with practical features for real-world use. The aluminum 7075 upper receiver and frame are paired with a mid-length gas system and 0.750 gas block tuned for the .450 Bushmaster round. A 15.25-inch aluminum handguard with full Picatinny rail gives you room to mount optics, lights, or other accessories. The barrel is offered in either 416R stainless steel or 4150 CRMOV with nitride finish—both solid choices depending on your preference for corrosion resistance or durability in rough conditions. Cerakote finish over the aluminum components adds a layer of protection against the elements.

The rifle ships with a muzzle brake designed for 6 degrees forward wrench tightening, a mil-spec polymer grip, and one 5-round magazine. The trigger breaks at a milspec 5.5–6 lb pull, and the feed ramps are modified M4 spec to handle the larger .450 Bushmaster rounds reliably. At 6.4 lbs, it's lightweight enough for a day in the field without feeling insubstantial. No sights come installed, leaving your rail clear for a scope, red dot, or iron sights of your choice.

Whether you're hunting hogs, deer, or larger game at moderate distances, this .450 Bushmaster AR gives you power and control in a platform you already know how to shoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is .450 Bushmaster ammunition and what is it used for?

.450 Bushmaster is a straight-wall rifle cartridge designed for hunting medium to large game. It fires a heavy, slow bullet that delivers significant stopping power at intermediate ranges and is legal in many jurisdictions that restrict hunting to straight-wall cartridges or have other ammunition requirements.

Can I mount an optic on this rifle?

Yes. The rifle does not come with sights installed, but the upper receiver features a full Picatinny rail on the handguard and the upper itself, giving you plenty of real estate to mount a rifle scope, red dot sight, or other optical device of your choice.

What barrel options are available?

Great Lakes Firearms offers this rifle with either a 416R stainless steel barrel or a 4150 CRMOV barrel with nitride finish. Both are 18 inches with a 1:24 twist and 11/16 x 24 threads. Choose stainless for maximum corrosion resistance or nitride for a harder finish in demanding field conditions.

What is included with the rifle?

The rifle comes with one 5-round magazine, a muzzle brake, and a mil-spec polymer grip. It does not include sights or optics, allowing you to set it up according to your preferences and use case.
