The Great Lakes Firearms AR-10 .308 Win with 18\" barrel combines precision engineering and practical mid-range capability for hunters and shooters who demand reliability without complexity. Built on 7075 billet aluminum upper and lower receivers, this rifle delivers the strength and accuracy you need whether you're working steel at the range or pursuing medium to large game. The 4150 CRMOV nitride barrel with 5R rifling and 1:10 twist rate is optimized for .308 Winchester ballistics, giving you the velocity and consistency that separates good shots from consistent ones.

What sets this rifle apart is the attention to the details that actually matter in the field. The 18\" barrel length strikes a balance—short enough for quick target transitions and manageable in tight hunting situations, yet long enough to wring out respectable velocity from .308 loads. The tungsten Cerakote finish isn't just about looks; it's a durable, corrosion-resistant coating that handles weather, sweat, and the bumps of real use. The 15.125\" M-Lok rail gives you flexibility to mount optics, lights, or accessories exactly where you need them.

This is an AR-10 built to run, not to impress. The 10-round magazine keeps you magazine-limited in most hunting situations, and the platform's familiar ergonomics mean minimal learning curve if you're already running AR-pattern rifles. Whether you're a precision rifle enthusiast stepping up to .308, a hunter looking for a no-nonsense intermediate-range option, or a shooter who values American manufacturing and solid specs over marketing hype, the Great Lakes Firearms AR-10 delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the effective range of an 18\" .308 AR-10?

An 18\" .308 is best suited for hunting and target shooting to around 500–600 yards under typical conditions. The shorter barrel means slightly lower velocity than a 20\" or 24" setup, but it remains more than adequate for standard hunting distances and intermediate-range precision work. Your specific performance will depend on your load selection and optics setup.

Is this rifle magazine-limited in my state?

This rifle ships with a 10-round magazine. Magazine capacity laws vary by state and hunting season, so verify your local regulations. The AR-10 platform accepts standard .308 magazines, so you can use legal-capacity magazines in your jurisdiction.

What comes in the box?

The Great Lakes Firearms AR-10 includes the assembled rifle and one 10-round magazine. You'll need to add an optic, charging handle, and bolt carrier group—or contact a retailer for current configuration options.

Can I swap the barrel or customize this rifle?

AR-10 pattern rifles are highly modular, and the Great Lakes Firearms design accepts standard .308 AR-10 components. Many users upgrade rail systems, stocks, grips, and triggers. Make sure any upgrades are compatible with the AR-10 platform and your local laws.
