30-06 Springfield

The Great Lakes Firearms AR-10 in 30-06 Springfield is a modern long-action rifle built on proven AR platform principles but chambered for one of hunting's most respected cartridges. This is a working rifle for hunters and long-range shooters who want the familiarity and modularity of an AR with the downrange power and ballistic capability of the .30-06—a cartridge that has anchored game across North America for over a century. The GL10 LA (long action) maintains the standard AR-10 footprint, so you're not learning a new manual of arms; you're upgrading your firepower.

The heart of this rifle is a 24-inch stainless steel barrel with 5R rifling and a 1:10 twist rate, designed to shoot accurately and handle the pressures of full-power .30-06 loads. The muzzle brake threads in 5/8 x 24 (stainless steel construction), letting you add a suppressor or brake of your choice. The billet-aluminum upper and lower receivers provide rigidity without unnecessary weight, and the 20-inch M-Lok handguard gives you all the rail space you need for optics, lights, or tactical gear without cluttering the fore-end.

Handling is straightforward: a Hogue fixed stock, mil-spec safety and grip, and a trigger breaking between 5.5 and 6 pounds—light enough for precision shooting, stiff enough for field reliability. The rifle ships with a custom five-round magazine and runs on a rifle-length gas system. At 9.25 pounds and 45.50 inches overall, it's a substantial but manageable rifle that points naturally in the field and settles confidently at the bench or in a rest.

Build quality matters in a rifle you depend on, and Great Lakes uses 7075-T6 aluminum for the receiver, 416R stainless for the barrel and brake, and 4150 steel for the gas block. If you shoot AR-pattern rifles and want to step into a genuine long-range hunting caliber without abandoning familiarity, the AR-10 in .30-06 Springfield is a logical, capable choice.
