The Daniel Defense M4A1 MIL SPEC+ rifle in Cerakote Brown is a purpose-built AR-15 platform carbine designed for shooters who demand reliability, modularity, and proven performance. This 5.56mm NATO rifle combines the combat-tested features that have served US Special Operations Command since 2005 with Daniel Defense's reputation for precision manufacturing and durability. Whether you're setting up a dedicated rifle for the range, home defense, or serious sport shooting, the M4A1 gives you a solid foundation built on mil-spec standards and backed by American manufacturing.
At its core is a 14.5-inch cold hammer-forged barrel with a 1:7 twist rate, chrome-lined for longevity and HP/MPI tested for reliability. The permanently attached Daniel Defense flash suppressor keeps your muzzle signature controlled. A carbine-length direct impingement gas system drives a mil-spec bolt carrier group with properly staked gas key—the kind of attention to detail that separates a working rifle from a poster piece. The lower receiver features an enhanced flared magazine well and rear QD swivel attachment point, while the upper receiver includes indexing marks and M4 feed ramps. Both are CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and Type III hard coat anodized for corrosion resistance.
The M4A1 RIS II rail system gives you genuine modularity—plenty of real estate for optics, lights, and accessories without the bulk of older designs. The Daniel Defense buttstock and pistol grip are glass-filled polymer with soft touch overmolding, ergonomic and durable. Santoprene rail panels handle heat without degrading. In Cerakote Mil Spec+ finish, this rifle resists wear and corrosion in the field while maintaining a professional, understated look. It ships in a full-latch impact plastic case and adjusts from 31.5 to 34.75 inches overall, accommodating different shooting positions and gear configurations. Sights are sold separately, letting you choose optics that match your mission.
This is a no-compromise, American-made carbine for hunters, sport shooters, and serious enthusiasts who understand that a quality AR-15 is an investment in a platform you'll configure and rely on for years.

The M4A1 is a versatile 5.56mm NATO carbine built on proven mil-spec standards used by US Special Operations Command. It works as a dedicated rifle for range shooting, sport competitions, home defense, or any serious rifle application where you want reliability and modularity in a compact, adjustable platform.
Can I add optics and accessories to this rifle?
Yes. The M4A1 RIS II handguard provides extensive Picatinny rail coverage for mounting optics, lights, lasers, and other tactical accessories. Note that sights are sold separately, so you'll choose an optic or iron sights to match your intended use.
What is included in the box?
The rifle ships in a Daniel Defense full-latch impact plastic case. Sights are not included and are sold separately.
What does the permanently attached flash suppressor mean?
The Daniel Defense flash suppressor is pinned and welded to the barrel, making it a permanent fixture. This is legal in all 50 states and ensures the muzzle device stays in place under any conditions. The barrel length plus permanently attached suppressor configuration is common for home-defense and sport rifle builds.
What finish is used on this rifle and how durable is it?
The rifle is finished with Cerakote Mil Spec+, a ceramic-based coating that provides exceptional resistance to corrosion, wear, and chemical damage. This finish is tougher than traditional Parkerizing and maintains appearance in field conditions.
