The Colt Python 357 Magnum 2.5" stainless steel revolver brings back one of the most respected wheel guns in American firearms history—reimagined for modern shooters who demand reliability, accuracy, and timeless aesthetics. If you're shopping for a compact, versatile revolver that handles both .357 Magnum and .38 Special rounds, the Python's 2.5" barrel delivers the stopping power you need in a package that works for home defense, sport shooting, or everyday carry. Built on Colt's legendary Snake Gun legacy, this 6-round revolver combines classic design with engineering improvements that matter when you're behind the trigger.
The stainless steel construction and semi-bright finish give the Python a professional, purposeful appearance—durable enough for real-world use and handsome enough to keep in plain sight. The recessed target crown and user-interchangeable red ramp front sight let you customize your setup to your preferred sight picture, while the adjustable rear sight gives you windage and elevation control for precise shooting. Whether you're dialing in at the range or carrying for protection, these sights earn their place on a precision revolver.
Where the Python sets itself apart is in the details. The redesigned rear sight platform incorporates thirty percent more steel than earlier designs, creating a stronger, more robust structure that enhances both durability and the feel of the gun in hand. Grip it with the classic American walnut panel stocks—finished with Colt's iconic silver medallion—and you've got a revolver that handles as good as it looks. The double/single-action trigger cycles cleanly through both modes, with double-action pulls running 7–9.5 pounds depending on your preferred break point.
At 39 ounces unloaded and 8 inches overall length, the Python 2.5" is compact enough to holster without bulk but substantial enough to shoot straight. Pair that with the 1:14 left-hand twist rifling and 6-groove barrel, and you've got a platform built for accuracy. Whether you're a revolver traditionalist or a shooter looking to step up from a budget wheelgun, the Python delivers the fit, finish, and firepower Colt's name has always promised.

Frequently Asked Questions
What ammunition does the Colt Python 2.5" shoot?
The Python is chambered in .357 Magnum and also chambers .38 Special cartridges, giving you flexibility in both power and cost. You can load either round without any modification or conversion.
Can I adjust the sights on this revolver?
Yes. The rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation, and the front sight is a user-interchangeable red ramp design. This combination lets you dial in your point of aim and swap the front sight if you want a different profile or height.
Is the Colt Python 2.5" suitable for concealed carry?
At 8 inches in overall length and 39 ounces, the Python's compact footprint and weight make it feasible for concealed carry setups. Whether it works for your particular holster and wardrobe depends on your body type and carry preference, but it's substantially shorter than full-size revolvers.
What grips come with the Python, and can I change them?
The Python comes equipped with American walnut classic panel stocks accented with a silver Colt medallion. The grip style is fixed to the revolver and not user-swappable without professional gunsmithing, so choose carefully if aesthetics matter to you.
