Colt Gold Cup Lite .38 Super Pistol 2-Tone - Model O5073GCLTT
- Caliber-Gauge:
- 38 Super
The Colt Gold Cup Lite .38 Super pistol in 2-tone configuration is a refined single-action semi-automatic built for shooters who demand precision and shootability in a modern service-size platform. This isn't a run-of-the-mill defensive carry gun—it's engineered for those who appreciate a flat-shooting, high-velocity cartridge paired with purposeful ergonomics and a clean trigger break. The .38 Super pushes velocity into territory that rewards accurate shot placement and stays competitive at distances where 9mm loses energy.
Built on a steel frame, the Gold Cup Lite carries its namesake pedigree from Colt's competition heritage while shedding unnecessary weight. The 5-inch barrel balances velocity gains with manageability, and the 9+1 capacity sits in that sweet spot between capacity and control. Handling is governed by an ambidextrous manual safety, meaning lefties and righties operate the same controls without fumbling. The blue G10 grips with scalloped panels are checkered for purchase and designed to stay where you put your hand—no slip, no fuss.
Sights matter when precision is the goal. Colt equipped this model with a fiber optic front sight for fast acquisition in varied lighting, paired with an adjustable Bomar-pattern rear. This combination lets you dial elevation and windage while that glowing front post helps you find the target quick. At 38 ounces, the steel frame provides the weight needed to tame recoil impulse and settle into that next shot, all while the contrasting black slide against the steel frame creates that classic 2-tone look that signals serious intent.
Whether you're a .38 Super devotee, a competition shooter looking for a refined platform, or someone who simply appreciates what modern manufacturing brings to a classic design, the Colt Gold Cup Lite delivers straight-shooting reliability and ergonomics you won't find in budget alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pistol suitable for left-handed shooters?
Yes. The ambidextrous manual safety allows both left- and right-handed operators to work the controls naturally without binding or awkward manipulation. If you're left-handed, you won't compromise your shoot position to manage safeties.
What is the .38 Super cartridge, and how does it compare to 9mm?
The .38 Super is a higher-velocity cartridge that predates the 9mm as a competitive and performance round. From a 5-inch barrel, it achieves energy levels that make it attractive to shooters who prioritize velocity and flat trajectories. It's a niche caliber favored by some competition shooters and those with specific velocity preferences.
Are the sights adjustable?
The rear Bomar-pattern sight is adjustable for windage and elevation, allowing you to zero the gun to your preferred point of impact. The fiber optic front sight is fixed but works in concert with the rear to give you a fast-acquisition sight picture.
What's included in the box?
The pistol ships with one 9-round magazine. Additional magazines and accessories are typically available separately.
