The Colt Combat Elite Commander 9mm pistol is a modern single-action platform built for shooters who want a compact carry gun without compromise. This Model O4082CE delivers professional-grade features in a proven 1911 package: a 4.25-inch barrel that balances velocity and concealability, a 9+1 round capacity, and a two-tone finish that looks as purposeful as it performs. Whether you're training at the range, carrying for personal defense, or competing in action sports, the Combat Elite Commander brings together quality manufacturing and practical upgrades.

The ergonomics are purpose-built for serious use. You get an upswept beavertail grip safety that prevents hammer bite and gives you a high, secure hold—critical for consistency under stress. The G10 grips feature half-checkering with a scallop design that provides traction without snagging clothing. Night sights come standard: Novak front and rear lows-profile night sights with 25 lines-per-inch checkering, so you can shoot in low light or transition quickly between targets and threat assessment.

Handling is enhanced by an ambidextrous safety, so lefties and righties operate the gun the same way—no learning curve, no fumbling during a draw. The Series 80 firing system adds a passive safety layer that many shooters appreciate. The TT Elite two-tone finish—stainless slide over a blued frame—resists corrosion while keeping weight down compared to full stainless, and it looks sharp doing it. At 7.75 inches overall and built on the Commander frame, this pistol carries and handles like a true compact without feeling compromised in the hand.

This is a 1911 that doesn't ask you to sacrifice. You get night sights, quality sights, ambi controls, and quality construction out of the box—no gunsmithing required. The Combat Elite Commander suits the shooter who knows what they want and isn't settling for basic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Colt Combat Elite Commander suitable for concealed carry?

Yes. The 4.25-inch barrel and 7.75-inch overall length make this a true compact 1911. It's significantly shorter and lighter than a Government-size 1911, making it a workable choice for appendix, waistband, or shoulder carry depending on your setup and clothing. The two-tone finish is visible when holstered, but the footprint is genuinely carry-friendly for a 1911.

Can left-handed shooters use this pistol?

Yes. The ambidextrous safety allows both right- and left-handed shooters to operate the gun safely without manipulation. The grip safety, magazine release, and all controls work the same from either side.

What sights come on this pistol?

It ships with Novak low-profile night sights front and rear. Both are designed for rapid target acquisition and work in daylight or low light. The sights are fixed, not adjustable, and come ready to shoot out of the box.

What's the difference between this Commander and a full-size Colt 1911?

The Combat Elite Commander features a shorter 4.25-inch barrel and 7.75-inch overall length compared to the Government model's 5-inch barrel and 8.5-inch length. This makes it more compact and lighter for carry while retaining the same ergonomics, controls, and reliability of the 1911 platform. Capacity remains 9+1 in 9mm on the Commander frame.
