The Colt 1911 Competition Series 70 Government .45 ACP is a modern take on the most prolific service pistol ever built—purpose-built for shooters who demand accuracy, reliability, and the ergonomic familiarity of the classic 1911 platform. Whether you're running a local match, training at the range, or carrying a battle-tested caliber for personal defense, this Competition Series 70 delivers the tight tolerances and tuned functionality that separate a competition gun from a stock service pistol. The brushed stainless steel finish resists corrosion while the Series 70 mechanism provides the trigger control serious shooters expect.
This is a gun built with competitors and dedicated marksmen in mind. The National Match barrel brings tighter chamber and bore tolerances for improved shot-to-shot consistency, while the fiber optic front sight and Bomar-style rear sight combination gives you a sight picture that's fast to acquire and easy to track on target. With an 8+1 capacity in .45 ACP—eight in the magazine, one in the chamber—you get the stopping power of America's most proven combat cartridge without sacrificing the magazine changes that stage competitors expect.
The Series 70 designation tells you this pistol runs a simplified firing system without the Series 80 firing pin safety, a choice many shooters prefer for trigger purity and reliability. Combined with the Government-length frame and slide, you're looking at a gun that rewards trigger discipline and sight discipline—exactly what a competition 1911 should do. If you've shot 1911s before, you'll feel at home immediately. If you're new to the platform, this is as refined an entry point as they come.
