Cimarron Model P .357 Magnum 5.5" Single Action Revolver - MP401 Classic Western Firearm
Cimarron Firearms Co
The Cimarron Model P .357 Magnum 4.75" single action revolver brings authentic Old West styling to modern shooting. Built as a faithful reproduction of the legendary 1873 Colt design, the Model P combines period-correct aesthetics with Cimarron's refined engineering—making it a natural choice for cowboy action shooters, historical reenactors, and anyone drawn to classic revolver handling and feel. The 4.75" barrel length is the standard that proved itself fastest and most balanced in working conditions, and Cimarron's version maintains that proven proportion.
What sets the Cimarron apart from lesser reproductions is attention to the details that matter. The frame is case hardened and blued steel, giving it both authentic appearance and solid durability. Your grip is a single piece of walnut fitted with a gold medallion—classic and comfortable. The six-shot .357 Magnum cylinder feeds both full-power magnum loads and milder .38 Special rounds, giving you flexibility at the range or in the field. Fixed front sights keep the design simple and reliable, just as the original was.
Cimarron engineered the Cowboy Comp action to address the inherent weaknesses of 19th-century single-action design without sacrificing authenticity. The revolver features a quick-release cylinder pin with dual-position functionality: fully inserted, it acts as a hammer block safety, adding a layer of security to traditional operation. At 2.5 lbs, it's light enough for all-day carry or competition shooting, yet substantial enough to manage recoil without fatigue. This is a working revolver dressed in history, not a safe queen.

Yes. The Model P is chambered in .357 Magnum and will safely fire .38 Special rounds from the same cylinder, giving you cost-effective practice ammo and reduced-recoil options alongside full-power magnum loads.
The Cimarron Model P is designed as an authentic reproduction of the 1873 Colt single action revolver. It faithfully recreates the original's appearance and handling characteristics while incorporating Cimarron's Cowboy Comp action improvements to address inherent weaknesses in the 19th-century design.
The quick-release cylinder pin has two positions. When fully inserted, it functions as a hammer block safety—a modern addition that adds a layer of security without altering the revolver's classic profile or operation.
