Cimarron Firearms Couberti 1873 Deluxe .44WCF 30" Lever-Action Rifle
- Caliber-Gauge:
- 44 WCF
The Cimarron Firearms Couberti 1873 Deluxe is a faithful recreation of one of the West's most iconic lever-action rifles, chambered in .44WCF and built on a 30-inch octagon barrel. If you're drawn to classic American rifle heritage—whether for hunting, Cowboy Action Shooting, or just appreciating quality craftsmanship—this is the real deal: a modern-made 1873 that honors the design that won the frontier without the fragility of an original.
Cimarron Firearms has earned a reputation for offering more variations of the 1873 than anyone else, and the Deluxe model reflects that commitment to detail. Hand-checkered walnut stock with pistol grip, period-correct proportions, and a long sight radius on that 30-inch barrel make this a capable rifle whether you're punching paper at distance, hunting medium game, or competing in period-correct match events. The .44WCF cartridge—also known as .44-40—delivers respectable power in a lever-gun platform and pairs naturally with period-appropriate sidearms if you're running a matched set.
This isn't a safe queen; it's built to handle hard use and cleaning. The deluxe grade distinguishes it from plainer models in fit and finish, making it a keeper for serious collectors and working shooters alike. At 30 inches, you're looking at a full-length rifle that really benefits from a bench or shooting sticks—this is a long-range sporting rifle in the truest sense, with sight radius and sight picture to match.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 1873 Deluxe legal for hunting?
Yes, the .44WCF is a centerfire rifle cartridge suitable for hunting medium game in most states, though you should verify your local regulations. The 30-inch barrel and quality sights make it an effective hunting tool at reasonable distances.
Can I use this rifle for Cowboy Action Shooting?
Absolutely. The 1873 is a centerpiece of CAS matches, and Cimarron rifles are built to handle competition use. The deluxe grade and full-length barrel make this an excellent choice if you want to stand out while keeping up with the action.
What ammunition does the .44WCF use?
The .44WCF (also called .44-40) is a period cartridge still widely manufactured by major ammunition makers. It's commonly stocked by dealers and reloaders who serve the lever-gun and Cowboy Action community.
How does the 30-inch barrel compare to shorter 1873 models?
The 30-inch octagon barrel gives you a longer sight radius for better accuracy at distance, a fuller sight picture, and the classic long-rifle proportions of the original sporting rifles. It's heavier and less handy than carbine or saddle-ring versions, but designed for deliberate shooting rather than close work.
