The Cimarron Firearms Couberti 1873 in 357 Magnum is a lever-action rifle built for hunters and shooters who value speed and handling in the field. Cimarron engineered this Texas Brush Popper specifically for quick, accurate work at moderate ranges—the kind of shooting that defines working hunters and Cowboy Action competitors. At 18.5 inches with an octagon-to-round barrel, it's light enough to carry all day without fatigue, yet balanced enough to shoot straight when it counts. The 357 Magnum round gives you versatility: effective on medium game and varmints, low recoil for fast follow-ups, and ammunition that's affordable and widely available.

Cimarron built this rifle in response to requests from top-tier Cowboy Action shooters who demanded a lever gun that wouldn't slow them down. The case-hardened frame and blued finish deliver that classic working-rifle aesthetic, while the checkered walnut pistol grip stock gives you secure purchase and authentic feel. The 10-round magazine capacity keeps you in the action without constant reloads, and the rifle's overall weight of 7.35 pounds makes it one of the quickest lever guns to shoulder and maneuver in brush, timber, or on the range.

Whether you're running a Cowboy Action match, hunting in tight country, or just want a rifle that handles like an extension of your body, the Couberti 1873 Texas Brush Popper delivers. It's the kind of gun that rewards practice with speed and accuracy—no unnecessary bulk, no gimmicks, just a purpose-built lever rifle that does its job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot 38 Special in this 357 Magnum lever rifle?

Yes. The Couberti is chambered for both 357 Magnum and 38 Special, so you can shoot either round interchangeably. This gives you flexibility and cost savings when 38 Special is cheaper or easier to find.

Is the Texas Brush Popper good for Cowboy Action Shooting?

Yes. The Cimarron Couberti was developed directly from input by top Cowboy Action shooters who wanted a fast, lightweight lever gun for competition. Its 10-round capacity and quick handling make it well-suited to CAS events.

What's the difference between the octagon and round barrel?

The barrel starts as octagon (eight-sided) near the receiver for a classic look, then transitions to round toward the muzzle for a sleeker profile and reduced weight. This hybrid design is a signature of the Texas Brush Popper.

How heavy is the Texas Brush Popper?

The rifle weighs 7.35 pounds, making it one of the lighter lever-action rifles available. That low weight is intentional—designed so shooters of all ages can carry and handle it comfortably for extended periods in the field or on the range.
