The Cimarron Firearms Couberti 1862 Pocket Conversion is a faithful recreation of the compact cartridge-conversion revolvers that defined the late 19th-century pocket pistol era. Chambered in .380 ACP, this 6-inch revolver bridges history and practicality—authentically styled to evoke the original Colt conversions of the 1870s, yet built for modern ammunition and the shooter who appreciates classic lines without sacrificing shootability.

If you're drawn to frontier-era firearms, lever guns, and classic American gunmaking, the Pocket Conversion speaks the same language. Its compact frame and manageable caliber make it a natural choice for the collector or the shooter seeking a historically accurate piece that won't feel like a museum piece at the range. The 6-inch barrel strikes a balance between portability and sight radius—short enough to nestle in a coat pocket or holster, long enough to deliver the accuracy pocket pistols are known for.

Cimarron's build quality shines in the details: a rich blued steel finish, color case-hardened frame, and brass trigger guard and back strap all echo period-correct aesthetics. The one-piece walnut grip is traditionally finished and comfortable in the hand. At just 1.78 pounds, this revolver won't fatigue you during an evening of shooting or a day in the field. It's the kind of gun that rewards deliberate, careful shooting—not a rapid-fire platform, but a tool that demands and rewards good technique.

Whether you're a cartridge-conversion enthusiast, a Colt historian, or simply looking for a distinctive revolver that handles a practical modern cartridge, the Cimarron Couberti delivers authenticity without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a pocket conversion and a standard percussion revolver?

A conversion revolver was originally a black-powder cap-and-ball revolver that was retrofitted to accept metallic cartridges. The Cimarron Couberti is a modern reproduction built from the ground up as a cartridge-firing revolver, styled to authentically represent those conversions—but chambered in .380 ACP from the factory.

Is the Couberti suitable for everyday shooting or just collecting?

This is a fully functional revolver chambered in a practical modern cartridge. Collectors value it for its historical aesthetics and accurate reproduction, but it's equally capable at the range or as a working firearm if you choose to carry or hunt with it.

How does a 6-inch barrel affect accuracy and handling on a pocket-sized revolver?

The 6-inch barrel provides a meaningful sight radius, which is critical for deliberate, accurate shooting. On a compact frame, this length positions your hand well forward of the cylinder and helps manage recoil. It's longer than most true pocket pistols but still proportional to the Pocket Navy's historical profile.

What caliber ammunition should I use?

The Couberti is chambered in .380 ACP (also called 9mm Short). Use standard .380 ACP ammunition—the revolver is built for modern metallic cartridges, not black powder.
