416 Stainless Steel Button-Rifled, Free-Floating

The Christensen Arms Mesa FFT in 6.5 Creedmoor is purpose-built for backcountry hunters who count every ounce on the trail. This 20-inch rifle combines a sub-5.5-pound package with a reputation for precision, making it one of the lightest serious hunting rigs you can carry into remote terrain. The Mesa FFT blends Christensen's featherweight engineering with practical features that work for mountain hunting, long-range shooting, and anywhere you're willing to hike for the opportunity.

The heart of the Mesa FFT is its 416R stainless steel barrel in featherweight contour—the same profile you'll find on competition and custom builds, just engineered to save weight without sacrificing rigidity or accuracy. The hand-lapped, button-rifled bore comes match-chambered and free-floating for sub-MOA potential, backed by Christensen Arms' Sub-MOA Guarantee. A seamless radial muzzle brake (removable) threads onto a 1/2-28 or 5/8-24 muzzle, finished in burnt bronze Cerakote. The action is a standard Rem 700 footprint with a skeletonized bolt handle, TriggerTech trigger, enlarged ejection port, and Christensen's billet aluminum bottom metal with hinged floor plate. You get a 4-round magazine capacity (3 for magnum rounds).

The FFT carbon-fiber sporter-style stock is the real weight-saver and pairs stainless steel bedding pillars with spot bedding to lock in consistency. The green-and-black-tan finish gives it looks that suit the backcountry aesthetic—durable, no-nonsense, and blending into terrain. Everything from the skeletonized bolt release to the recoil pad reflects a rifle designed for hunters who move, shoot, and move again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with the rifle, and does it come with a scope?

The Mesa FFT is sold as a barreled action and stock assembly. It does not come with a scope, rings, or muzzle device pre-installed (though it's drilled for standard Rem 700 rings and the muzzle brake is removable). You'll need to source a scope and rings separately.

What optics base does the Mesa FFT use, and what scopes are compatible?

The rifle accepts standard Rem 700 optics bases, so you can use any scope rings and bases designed for the Rem 700 platform. This gives you flexibility with almost any modern riflescope on the market.

Is the Christensen Arms Mesa FFT suitable for long-range hunting, and what distances is it built for?

The 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge and sub-MOA-guaranteed accuracy make the Mesa FFT capable at extended ranges. The combination of precision engineering, TriggerTech trigger, and free-floating barrel supports long-range shooting, though your performance at distance will depend on the scope, ammunition, and your skill. The 20-inch barrel is common for backcountry hunting rifles where you balance velocity with portability.

Can I remove the muzzle brake?

Yes. The seamless radial brake is removable, so you can shoot it suppressed, unsuppressed, or with a different muzzle device if preferred.
