The Century VSKA AK-47 7.62x39mm rifle represents a serious evolution in domestic AK platform manufacturing. Built on the foundation of a U.S. government development program completed in 2017, the VSKA (pronounced "vis-kuh") brings military-grade durability to a classic cartridge platform that shooters trust for hunting, sport shooting, and reliable performance downrange. With a 16.5" chrome-moly barrel and 30-round magazine capacity, this rifle delivers the firepower and handling characteristics that have made the AK-47 a global standard for nearly 75 years.

What sets the VSKA apart is its use of premium materials engineered for shock resistance and longevity. The bolt carrier, front trunnion, and feed ramp are machined from S7 tool steel—the same material used in industrial chisels and jackhammer tips for its exceptional toughness and compression strength. The bolt itself is carburized 4140 steel, and the receiver is 1/16" stamped steel. These components exceed the durability specifications Century developed during its government contract work, meaning you're buying a rifle tested against serious standards, not marketing claims.

The VSKA balances serious engineering with accessible handling. The RAK-1 Enhanced Trigger Group delivers a crisp, predictable break. American maple wood furniture—buttstock and forend—gives the rifle a classic, practical aesthetic while adding durability and a degree of ergonomic warmth that polymer-only rifles lack. At 16.5", the barrel length keeps the rifle maneuverable in field conditions while maintaining velocity appropriate for 7.62x39mm ballistics.

This is a rifle for shooters who prioritize reliability and proven materials over trendy accessories or modular platforms. Whether you're running precision ammunition at the range, hunting medium game, or simply investing in a rifle that will outlast your shooting career, the VSKA delivers the rugged capability that the AK platform was designed for.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the VSKA, and how does it differ from other AK-47 rifles?

The Century VSKA is a domestically manufactured AK-pattern rifle engineered from a U.S. government development program. Its defining feature is the use of S7 tool steel for critical wear components—the bolt carrier, front trunnion, and feed ramp—materials chosen for shock resistance and durability. This is a significant step beyond standard stamped-receiver AK rifles and reflects Century's commitment to building a rifle that will handle heavy use without sacrificing reliability.

Is the VSKA suitable for hunting?

Yes. The 7.62x39mm cartridge and 16.5" barrel make the VSKA practical for medium-game hunting and predator control where legal. The rifle's balance, handling, and trigger control support field accuracy, and the robust construction will serve reliably in adverse conditions.

What's included with the rifle?

The VSKA ships with one 30-round standard capacity magazine. No other accessories (sling, scope mount, etc.) are included—you'll need to source those separately based on your intended use.

Can I modify or customize the VSKA?

The VSKA is built on a traditional AK platform with a stamped receiver. Customization options are more limited than modern modular rifles, but wood furniture can be swapped and standard AK accessories (slings, optic mounts compatible with stamped receivers) can be added. Always verify compatibility and follow manufacturer guidance for any modifications.
