The Century Arms BFT47 is a 7.62x39mm AK rifle built on a heat-treated stamped 4130 steel receiver paired with a bulged, forged 4140 steel front trunnion—architecture proven in decades of hard use. With its 16.5" barrel, S7 tool steel bolt, and RAK-1 enhanced trigger group, this AK is designed to run reliably whether you're zeroing in at the range, hunting, or putting rounds downrange in less-than-ideal conditions. The slant muzzle brake helps manage recoil, and the side-mount optics rail gives you flexibility to run your choice of red dot, scope, or other sighting system. American Maple furniture and black finish deliver classic AK aesthetics with practical durability.

If you're stepping into the AK platform or adding a quality 7.62x39 to your battery, the BFT47 offers genuine build quality—properly heat-treated and forged components that won't nickel-and-dime you with reliability issues. The 1:10 twist 4150 steel barrel is optimized for the full range of 7.62x39 ammunition, from light target loads to heavier hunting rounds. This is a rifle that rewards good maintenance with years of service.

One US Palm magazine is included; you'll likely want to build out a proper magazine collection, as AK platforms thrive with multiple reliable mags on hand. The side-mount configuration keeps your dust cover functional and lets you swap optics or run irons without wrestling with rail systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this AK and a standard 7.62x39 rifle?

The BFT47 is purpose-built on the Kalashnikov platform with properly heat-treated and forged critical components—receiver, trunnion, and bolt. The RAK-1 trigger is a meaningful upgrade that produces a cleaner break than milspec AK triggers, and the 1:10 barrel twist is optimized for the full range of 7.62x39 ammunition. If you're familiar with AK ergonomics and want a rifle that runs hard without premium pricing, this is a solid choice.

Can I mount a scope or red dot on the BFT47?

Yes. The rifle includes a side-mount optics rail that accepts AK-pattern mounts for red dots, magnified scopes, and other sighting systems. The side mount keeps your dust cover functional, which is a practical advantage over top-rail systems on some AKs.

What ammunition does the 1:10 barrel twist shoot well?

The 1:10 twist is the standard for 7.62x39 and handles the full spectrum of factory and handloaded ammunition in that caliber—from lighter target loads around 120 grain to heavier hunting or military-style rounds. You won't have stability issues with any common 7.62x39 offering.

Is the slant muzzle brake effective for recoil management?

The slant muzzle brake reduces recoil and helps manage muzzle rise, which aids in sight picture recovery between shots and makes the rifle easier to control during rapid or sustained fire. It's a practical feature for both range work and hunting applications where follow-up shots matter.
