The Browning X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR in 6.8 Western is a modern short-action hunting rifle built for shooters who demand precision and adaptability in the field. This rifle combines Browning's proven X-Bolt 2 action with a refreshed platform designed around practical hunting needs—a fluted sporter-weight barrel, suppressor-ready belled muzzle, and a completely adjustable composite stock. If you're after a versatile hunting rifle that won't wear you out on long days or punish your shoulder, the Speed SPR delivers the accuracy and handling that serious hunters expect from Browning.

The standout feature here is the new Vari-Tech composite stock, finished in Browning's OVIX camouflage pattern. It's fully adjustable for length of pull, comb height, and grip angle—meaning you can dial it in for your build, shooting position, and gear setup instead of settling for a one-size-fits-all rifle. The stock wears black overmolded grips and includes both sporter and vertical grip options, giving you flexibility for different hunting scenarios. The receiver is newly designed with enhanced bolt guidance surfaces for smoother, more reliable cycling, and the barrel floats free for consistent accuracy shot to shot.

Built for the modern hunter, the Speed SPR features a redesigned spiral-fluted bolt with an ergonomic knob shape and a lightning-fast 60-degree lift that clears large optics without drama. The barrel sports a Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish that outperforms traditional bluing, and its belled muzzle is ready for common suppressor threading if you choose to go that route. Recoil management comes from a new 1-1/4" Inflex Pad, and a radial-style muzzle brake further tames the 6.8 Western's report. The rifle rides on Browning's X-Lock scope mounting system—four screws per base for zero shift between sessions.

Under the hood, you get Browning's patent-pending adjustable DLX trigger tuned to hunting weights, a top-tang safety that's intuitive and fast, and a bolt unlock button that adds a safety layer during chamber checking. The action is bedded at the recoil lug and screws with a free-floating barrel for the kind of stability and precision that translates to clean kills at distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR ready for a suppressor?

Yes. The barrel features a belled muzzle designed to accept common suppressor-ready threading, making it straightforward to add a suppressor for reduced report and recoil. You'll need to arrange threading or purchase a threaded barrel, but the rifle's design accommodates it.

Can I adjust the stock to fit my body and shooting style?

Absolutely. The Vari-Tech composite stock is fully adjustable for length of pull, comb height, and grip angle. It also includes both sporter and vertical grip options, so you can personalize the fit for your frame and preferred shooting position.

What's the advantage of the new X-Bolt 2 receiver and bolt design?

The redesigned receiver includes additional bolt guidance surfaces for smoother, more reliable cycling. The spiral-fluted bolt features an ergonomic knob shape and a 60-degree lift that's faster to cycle and clears large optics without interference. The barrel is free-floated and bedded at the recoil lug and action screws for consistency and accuracy.

What optics mounting system does this rifle use?

The Speed SPR uses Browning's X-Lock scope mounting system, which uses four screws per base for a rock-solid attachment to the receiver and zero shift between sessions.
