The Browning BT-99 is a 12-gauge break-action shotgun built for shooters who value simplicity, reliability, and tradition. Whether you're heading to the trap range, upland hunting, or passing down a quality firearm to the next generation, the BT-99's straightforward design and proven track record make it a smart choice. This satin-finished version pairs a durable blued-steel receiver with a satin-black walnut stock—clean looks that won't catch the sun and won't demand constant maintenance.
The BT-99 chambers 2.75-inch shells and uses an extractor (not an ejector), meaning you'll manually remove spent hulls—a minor detail that keeps the action simple and contributes to its legendary reliability. The 32-inch barrel is a classic trap-shooting length, while the ivory bead front sight provides a clean aiming reference. At 8 pounds 3 ounces, it's substantial enough to manage recoil but still carries reasonably well during a day afield. The 14.375-inch length of pull suits most adult shooters; if your proportions differ, gunsmith adjustment is always an option.
Browning's break-action design is about as foolproof as shotguns get: open the action, insert a shell, close, and fire. Field stripping for cleaning is quick and intuitive. If you shoot trap, hunt upland birds, or just want a no-nonsense shotgun that works the same way every time, the BT-99 is worth serious consideration.
