The Browning AB3 Hunter in 270 WSM is a no-nonsense bolt-action rifle built for hunters who want a proven platform without unnecessary complexity or weight. Browning's AB3 is a straightforward, dependable design that handles the magnum cartridge's power efficiently. With a 23-inch barrel and weighing just 6 lbs 13 oz, it strikes a practical balance—light enough for a full day in the field, substantial enough to manage recoil and deliver consistent accuracy. This is the rifle for someone who values function over fashion, who'd rather spend money on ammunition and glass than wait for a rifle to arrive.
The 270 WSM (Winchester Short Magnum) is a genuinely effective hunting round, delivering magnum velocities in a compact case. Whether you're pursuing elk, mule deer, or whitetail at distance, the ballistics are there. The AB3's three-round magazine keeps the overall length at 43 inches—manageable in thick cover or tight vehicle space—while the 13 5/8-inch length of pull fits most shooters comfortably. The matte-blued barrel and satin stock finish are designed to work, not to gleam, and they resist glint if you're glassing a ridge or settling into a stand.
Out of the box, the AB3 comes drilled and tapped for scope rings, so you can mount your preferred glass without gunsmithing or trip delays. The action has earned a solid reputation for reliability across Browning's lineup, and the twist rate of 1 in 10 stabilizes the full range of 270 WSM loads. This isn't a rifle that demands a lot of tinkering—point it, shoot it, hunt with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the AB3 Hunter suitable for long-range hunting?
Yes. The 270 WSM is a magnum cartridge with ballistics built for extended ranges, and the 23-inch barrel optimizes velocity for that caliber. Pair it with quality optics and you have a capable long-range hunting rifle. The factory-drilled and -tapped receiver accepts most standard scope mount systems.
What's the typical length of pull, and will it fit me?
The AB3 Hunter has a 13 5/8-inch length of pull, which accommodates most adult shooters of average to larger build. If you have a significantly shorter or longer frame, an aftermarket stock or spacer may be needed—contact us if fit is a concern.
Does this rifle come with a scope?
No. The AB3 Hunter is drilled and tapped for scope rings, but the rifle ships with no optics. You'll select and mount your own scope based on your hunting application and preferences.
What's the magazine capacity, and can I find aftermarket options?
The AB3 Hunter ships with a three-round magazine. Browning and third-party manufacturers produce additional magazine options for the AB3 platform; check compatibility when ordering.
