The Browning AB3 Hunter in .243 Winchester is a versatile short-action rifle built for hunters who need a reliable, accurate platform without unnecessary weight or complexity. With its classic walnut stock, steel construction, and straightforward bolt-action design, the AB3 Hunter delivers the kind of no-fuss performance that works equally well on varmints, medium game, or the range. The .243 Winchester round itself is a sweet spot for shooters: it recoils gently enough for precision work and extended practice sessions, yet carries enough energy for effective hunting out to reasonable distances.

This is a rifle that respects tradition while handling modern hunting demands. The 22-inch barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and portability—long enough to make the .243 Win sing, short enough that you won't feel it in a day-long stalk. At just under 7 pounds, the AB3 Hunter shoulders comfortably in thick cover or open country. The 5-round capacity gives you more than enough firepower for ethical hunting while keeping the overall profile lean. That 1-in-10 twist rate is optimized for the cartridge's typical bullet weights, so you can shoot factory loads with confidence.

The walnut stock brings honest aesthetics to the field—it's finished in satin to minimize glare and feels good in your hands after hours of hunting. The short action keeps things compact and snappy, and the rifle comes factory drilled and tapped for scope rings, so you can get glass on it and start building a setup that's genuinely yours. Whether you're building your first hunting rifle or adding a capable second gun, the AB3 Hunter checks the boxes: honest engineering, proven caliber, and the kind of balance that lets you focus on the hunt itself.
