The Browning 1911-380 is a full-size 380 ACP pistol that brings the legendary 1911 platform down to a more manageable caliber and size. If you've wanted the proven ergonomics and manual-of-arms familiarity of a 1911 but prefer lighter recoil, softer shooting experience, or simply need a gun that fits hands on the smaller side, this is the pistol that makes that combination work. It chambers .380 ACP—one of John Browning's own cartridge designs—in a package that weighs just 18 ounces and measures 7.5 inches in length, giving you a gun that's genuinely concealable without sacrificing the control and confidence of a 1911's design.

Where the 1911-380 shines is in the details. Extended ambidextrous thumb safeties let both lefties and righties work the gun naturally; a beavertail grip safety keeps your hand high and recoil manageable; and the extended slide lock makes press-checks and chamber checks intuitive. The composite frame and matte black slide are built tough but keep weight down—crucial for a carry gun you'll have on you all day. Low-profile combat-style sights are practical and snag-free. The lightweight hammer and trigger break cleanly without excessive take-up. Whether you're building a home-defense battery, adding a compact 380 to your carry rotation, or looking for a low-recoil full-size platform, the 1911-380 delivers the gun-handling experience you expect from the 1911 name in a package that actually works for more shooters and more situations.

Every gun ships in an ABS carry case, so you're ready to go out of the box. The 8-round magazine capacity is standard for the platform, and the safety and operating controls are pure 1911—no learning curve if you've ever run one before.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Browning 1911-380 best suited for?

This gun is ideal for shooters who want the proven 1911 manual of arms in a platform with lighter recoil. It's excellent for concealed carry, home defense, and shooters with smaller hands or those who prefer softer-shooting handguns. The full-size frame and familiar 1911 controls make it approachable for anyone with prior 1911 experience.

Is this truly concealable despite being full-size?

Yes. The 1911-380 is approximately 15% smaller than a standard .45 ACP 1911 and weighs only 18 ounces, making it substantially more concealable than full-size .45 models. The compact package and low-profile sights minimize printing and snag points under clothing.

What's included with the pistol?

Each 1911-380 ships in an ABS carry case, so you have secure transport and storage right out of the box.

How does the .380 ACP compare in recoil to other 1911 platforms?

The .380 ACP cartridge produces significantly less recoil than 9mm or .45 ACP, making the 1911-380 an excellent choice for recoil-sensitive shooters while maintaining the ergonomic and handling advantages of the 1911 design.
