The Zastava Arms ZPAP85 5.56 NATO pistol is a short-barreled AK-pattern shooter built for close-quarters capability and rapid-fire utility. This 10-inch barreled pistol delivers genuine AK ergonomics in a compact platform that doesn't sacrifice durability. A chrome-lined barrel promises corrosion resistance and extended service life, while the reinforced receiver and buldged trunnion construction provide the structural integrity Zastava is known for. Whether you're looking at this as a truck gun, property defender, or range toy with serious bones, the ZPAP85 combines Serbian engineering with practical American use cases.

The integrated quad rail on the top lets you mount optics, lights, and other accessories exactly where you need them—no permanent modifications required. The 30-round magazine capacity keeps you shooting longer between reloads, and the 5.56 NATO chambering means cheap, abundant ammunition at every range and gun shop in the country. This isn't a pistol that apologizes for what it is; it's a fighting platform in an SBR-adjacent package, and it runs.

Zastava's reputation for no-nonsense, combat-proven design translates directly to this model. You get a rear trunnion rail for additional mounting flexibility and a muzzle brake that helps manage the sharp impulse of the short barrel. Build it exactly how you want it, or run it as-is—the quad rail and mounting options give you all the flexibility a serious shooter needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What optics and accessories can I mount on the ZPAP85 quad rail?

The integrated quad rail on top accepts standard Picatinny-pattern mounts, so you can install red dot sights, magnified optics, tactical lights, laser designators, and forward-mounted grips—essentially any accessory designed for Picatinny rails. The rear trunnion rail provides additional mounting flexibility.

Is the ZPAP85 a good short-range or close-quarters platform?

Yes. The 10-inch barrel and AK-pattern controls make it quick-handling and intuitive in tight spaces. Paired with the quad rail for mounting lights and a close-range optic, it's well-suited to defensive or tactical training scenarios where speed and maneuverability matter more than distance.

What magazines does the ZPAP85 use?

The ZPAP85 accepts standard 5.56 NATO AK-pattern magazines. It ships with the capacity to use 30-round magazines, and you have access to a wide variety of aftermarket and surplus options.

Why is the chrome-lined barrel significant?

A chrome-lined barrel resists corrosion from moisture, carbon fouling, and storage conditions far better than a bare steel bore. For a pistol that may see hard use or inconsistent storage, that protection extends barrel life and maintains accuracy over time.
