The Zastava Arms USA ZPAPM70 7.62x39 rifle delivers AK-pattern reliability in a modern, practical package. Built on a proven platform with a 1.5mm bulged trunnion receiver and a 16.3-inch cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel, this semi-automatic rifle is engineered to handle everything from target practice to hunting. The long-stroke gas piston system—the same core design trusted by military and civilian shooters worldwide—keeps the action running clean and smooth through extended shooting sessions, and the 14x1 left-handed threaded muzzle gives you options for brakes, suppressors, or other muzzle devices down the road.

What sets this rifle apart is the attention to detail. The silver Cerakote finish is more than cosmetic—it's corrosion-resistant and built to handle hard use in the field. The cold hammer forged barrel means superior strength and longevity compared to button-rifled alternatives. Standard AKM sights keep you equipped right out of the box, and side-mount compatibility opens up your optic choices without forcing you into a rail system. The wood furniture is classic and won't snag in brush, while the bolt hold open safety gives you tactile feedback and positive control. At 7.9 pounds and 35 inches overall, it's balanced for hunting, range work, and practical shooting.

This is a rifle built for shooters who understand the AK platform and want a quality-made, US-produced alternative. Whether you're running steel-cased surplus ammo, quality hunting loads, or match-grade rounds at the range, the ZPAPM70 is designed to run reliably. The 30-round magazine capacity supports hunting and recreational shooting, and the 16.3-inch length of pull works well for most shooters in a practical shooting stance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope or red dot on the ZPAPM70?

Yes. The rifle accepts standard AK side mounts, which are compatible with a wide range of optics. You'll need a mount designed for that interface, but the system is well-established and many quality options are available.

What ammunition does this rifle shoot?

The ZPAPM70 is chambered in 7.62x39mm, the standard intermediate rifle cartridge. It will reliably cycle steel-cased surplus ammo, brass hunting and match loads, and most commercial ammunition in that caliber.

Is the barrel threaded, and can I use a suppressor or brake?

Yes, the barrel has a 14x1 left-hand threaded muzzle. You can install a muzzle brake, flash hider, or suppressor (if you have the appropriate federal paperwork and live in a state where suppressors are legal) by threading it onto the muzzle.

What does the bolt hold open safety do?

The bolt hold open safety locks the bolt carrier group in the rearward position when engaged, allowing safe, positive confirmation that the rifle is unloaded and secure. It's a manual safety feature common to AK-pattern rifles.
