The Winchester SXP Youth Field 12-gauge shotgun is a pump-action workhorse built for younger hunters and shooters who need a scaled-down frame without sacrificing reliability or handling. With its compact 24-inch barrel and 12-inch length of pull, this shotgun fits shooters learning the sport or those with a smaller stature, making it an excellent entry point into field hunting and sport shooting. The aluminum alloy receiver paired with a hard chrome-plated chamber and bore means you get Winchester's proven durability in a lightweight package that won't wear you down during a full day in the field.
The Grade I walnut stock with satin finish gives the SXP Youth a classic, purposeful look—no plastic-fantastic nonsense here. The included length of pull spacers let you dial in the fit as the shooter grows, extending the useful life of the gun and keeping it comfortable and controllable. A brass bead front sight keeps your sight picture simple and fast, which matters when game flushes in front of you or clay targets are breaking downrange.
Three Invector-Plus choke tubes (including Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder) come standard, giving you the flexibility to tune your shot pattern for different distances and game. The 3-inch chamber handles both 2¾-inch and 3-inch loads, so you're not locked into one type of ammunition. The magazine feeds four 2¾-inch shells, and the smooth pump action cycles reliably whether you're shooting light target loads or full-power hunting rounds. At 6 pounds 6 ounces, it's light enough for young hunters to shoulder all day, with an overall length of 42½ inches that won't feel unwieldy in tight brush or in a blind.
This is a straightforward, no-frills shotgun that does the job. It's not trendy, it's not tactical, and it doesn't need to be—it's built to teach proper shotgun handling and deliver results whether you're breaking clays or hunting upland game or waterfowl.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Winchester SXP Youth Field suitable for hunting, or is it just for target shooting?
This shotgun is equally at home in the field or on the range. The 3-inch chamber, adjustable choke system, and reliable pump action make it a legitimate hunting tool for upland game, waterfowl, and other applications where a 12-gauge is appropriate. The compact dimensions and light weight actually make it well-suited to younger hunters working through brush and timber.
What does the length of pull spacer do, and how do I use it?
The length of pull spacers allow you to increase the distance from the trigger to the back of the stock, effectively lengthening the gun as the shooter grows. Rather than outgrowing the shotgun, you can adjust the fit to maintain proper shooting form and comfort over several years.
Can I use both 2¾-inch and 3-inch shells in this gun?
Yes. The 3-inch chamber safely accepts both 2¾-inch and 3-inch shotshells, giving you flexibility in ammunition selection and allowing lighter-recoiling practice loads alongside full-power hunting loads.
What choke tubes are included, and can I buy different ones?
The gun ships with three Invector-Plus choke tubes. Winchester does not specify which constrictions are included in this package, so check with Bosque Outdoors or the documentation for the exact tubes. Winchester offers additional Invector-Plus tubes separately if you want to add other constrictions.
