The Winchester SX4 Waterfowl Hunter is a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun built for serious waterfowl hunters who demand reliability in wet, cold conditions. This 28-inch, 3.5-inch chambered gun combines Winchester's proven gas-operated Active Valve system with refinements that make it faster and more intuitive to operate when you're bundled up and focused downrange. The Mossy Oak Bottomlands camouflage finish blends seamlessly in marsh environments, while the aluminum alloy receiver keeps weight manageable at 7 pounds without sacrificing durability.

The SX4 is evolution, not revolution. It takes what worked in the SX3 and improves the parts that matter in the field: a larger cocking handle, bigger trigger guard opening for gloved hands, and a reversible safety button that lets you shoot from either shoulder without fumbling. Those refinements sound small until you're in a blind before dawn with frozen fingers. The included TRUGLO fiber-optic sight helps you pick up bead alignment in low light, and the new Inflex Technology recoil pad is engineered to soak up the punishment of magnum loads without beating you senseless by day's end.

Three Invector-Plus choke tubes give you flexibility to adjust for distance and shot string, while length-of-pull spacers and the 1.75-inch drop at comb ensure proper fit whether you're a standard or stockier build. Sling swivel studs are drilled and ready. The ventilated rib helps shed water and reduces mirage in bright conditions. This is a waterfowler's gun through and through—built to cycle reliably, point naturally, and get the job done season after season.

Frequently Asked Questions

What choke tubes come with the SX4 Waterfowl Hunter?

The gun includes three Invector-Plus choke tubes. You can swap them to fine-tune your pattern for different distances and conditions.

Can I use this shotgun for hunting both ducks and geese?

Yes. The 3.5-inch chamber and 12-gauge bore handle both waterfowl species. Your choice of choke tubes and shot load will depend on your specific hunt.

Is the SX4 ambidextrous, or can left-handers shoot it?

The safety button is reversible, which accommodates shooters who prefer to operate it from the left side. The gun itself features conventional controls; for full left-hand operation, confirm with the manufacturer.

What is the Mossy Oak Bottomlands pattern designed to do?

Bottomlands is a waterfowl-specific camouflage pattern designed to blend with marsh environments—vegetation, water, and muddy terrain. It's been proven effective for generations of duck and goose hunters.
