The Winchester SXP Hunter is a pump-action shotgun built for waterfowl and upland hunting with a 20-gauge, 3-chamber configuration and a 28-inch barrel with 3-inch chamber capability. This is a workhorse gun for hunters who want reliable, fast follow-up shots in the field without the recoil punishment of larger gauges. The aluminum alloy receiver and hard chrome-plated chamber and bore are designed to handle the elements and repeated use, while the TrueTimber VSX camouflage finish helps you blend into timber, fields, and marshes.

What sets the SXP apart in its class is the attention to ergonomics and shooter control. The large trigger guard opening accommodates gloved hands in cold weather, and the reversible safety button lets you set it for your dominant hand. The Inflex Technology recoil pad reduces felt recoil, which matters when you're shooting multiple rounds during an active hunt. Sling swivel studs are already installed, so you can get your gun shouldered quickly.

The three Invector-Plus choke tubes—Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder—give you the flexibility to adjust your pattern for different distances and conditions without buying additional tubes. The TRUGLO fiber-optic front sight cuts through low-light conditions at dawn and dusk, when ducks are moving and grouse are in the open. This is a 20-gauge that doesn't feel like a compromise gun; it's a practical choice for hunters who value accuracy and control over raw power.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this shotgun good for waterfowl and upland hunting?

Yes. The 20-gauge 3-inch chamber is effective for duck and goose hunting as well as upland game birds. The TrueTimber VSX camouflage and fiber-optic sight make it practical for both marsh and field hunting, and the included Invector-Plus chokes let you adjust your pattern to different distances.

What choke tubes come with the Winchester SXP Hunter?

Three Invector-Plus choke tubes are included: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. These allow you to adapt your shot pattern for different hunting scenarios without purchasing additional tubes.

Does the SXP work for left-handed shooters?

The reversible safety button can be set for left or right-hand operation, making the gun accessible to both dominant hand positions. However, the overall action layout is a standard pump-action design.

What is the Inflex Technology recoil pad?

The Inflex recoil pad is designed to reduce felt recoil, making the gun more comfortable to shoot over extended periods in the field.
