The Winchester SX4 Waterfowl Hunter is a 12-gauge, 3.5-inch semi-automatic shotgun built for hunters who demand reliable performance in challenging conditions. This gas-operated autoloader pairs Winchester's proven Active Valve system with a lightweight aluminum alloy receiver and genuine Woodland camouflage finish—a time-tested pattern that works across flooded timber, marsh cattails, and mixed cover. The 26-inch barrel features a chrome-plated chamber and bore to stand up to steel shot and harsh weather, plus a ventilated rib for sight plane clarity. Whether you're working a duck blind at first light or targeting geese over decoys, the SX4 Waterfowl Hunter delivers the soft-shooting, fast-cycling reliability that keeps you in the game all season.
Winchester engineered the SX4 as a worthy successor to the legendary SX3, keeping the core strength of the Active Valve gas system while refining balance, controls, and internal components for smoother operation. The result is a shotgun that cycles cleanly without the harsh recoil that can throw off your second and third shots. It comes ready to hunt: three Invector-Plus choke tubes (F, M, IC) let you dial in your pattern for different distances and cover types, while the new Inflex Technology recoil pad absorbs impact so you can focus on your birds, not your shoulder.
Handling improvements make a real difference in the blind. The larger bolt handle and bolt release are easier to manipulate with cold hands or gloves, and the reversible safety button adapts to your shooting style. A wider trigger guard opening accommodates different hand sizes and allows faster access to the trigger. Length-of-pull spacers let you dial in the fit, and sling swivel studs are already in place. The Truglo fiber-optic sight aids target acquisition in low light—a practical asset during dawn and dusk prime time.
If you run a shotgun hard in wet, salty, or muddy conditions, the SX4 Waterfowl Hunter's chrome-plated internals and composite furniture (no wood to swell or rot) are built to take it. Lightweight and handy, it's a serious choice for duck and goose hunters who want proven gas-gun reliability without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Winchester SX4 Waterfowl Hunter a good choice for duck and goose hunting?
Yes. It's purpose-built for waterfowl with a Woodland camouflage finish that blends across varied environments, a chrome-plated bore and chamber to handle steel shot and weather, and three choke tubes to dial in your pattern at different ranges. The gas-operated action keeps recoil manageable so you can stay sharp for follow-up shots.
What choke tubes come with it, and can I use other brands?
It includes three Invector-Plus choke tubes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder). The shotgun is set up for Invector-Plus tubes, which are Winchester's standard; check compatibility before substituting other brands.
Will this shotgun work in cold, wet, or salty environments?
The aluminum alloy receiver, chrome-plated chamber and bore, and composite stock are all designed to resist corrosion and weather. Composite furniture won't swell or rot like wood. It's built for serious waterfowl hunting in harsh conditions, though like all firearms, regular maintenance extends life in extreme environments.
Is the length of pull adjustable?
Yes. Length-of-pull spacers are included, allowing you to customize the fit to your frame and shooting style.
