The Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in 6.8 Western is a premium bolt-action rifle built on the foundation of one of America's most respected hunting platforms. Chambered in the modern 6.8 Western cartridge and topped with a 24-inch barrel, this rifle combines Winchester's legendary controlled-round-feed reliability with the refined ergonomics and fit-and-finish of the Super Grade line. If you're serious about long-range hunting or want a rifle that handles beautifully in the field without compromise, the Model 70 Super Grade delivers on both fronts.
What sets this rifle apart is its attention to detail. The Grade IV/V walnut stock features a Shadowline cheekpiece that naturally aligns your eye with a mounted scope, eliminating the need for awkward positioning. The ebony forearm tip and polished blue finish aren't just for looks—they're markers of quality that reflect the care taken throughout the build. A jeweled bolt body catches the light and hints at the precision inside. The forged steel receiver incorporates an integral recoil lug that's bedded front and rear, a time-proven design that keeps zero rock-solid shot after shot.
The action uses Winchester's Pre-'64 style controlled round feed with a claw extractor, a design that commands the cartridge from magazine to chamber to ejection with authority. You get a three-position safety that clearly shows status, an M.O.A. trigger system with zero take-up and zero creep, and a recessed target crown that protects the rifling while enhancing accuracy. One-piece bottom metal with a steel floorplate adds rigidity, while decorative steel crossbolts reinforce the stock without sacrificing elegance. Inletted sling swivel studs are ready for your preferred carry setup, and the Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad keeps shooting comfortable, even in a precision rifle.
The 6.8 Western brings modern ballistics to a time-tested platform. Whether you're glassing for elk or setting up for longer shots, this rifle gives you the accuracy, reliability, and refined handling that justify the Super Grade investment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 6.8 Western, and is it a good hunting round?
The 6.8 Western is a modern centerfire cartridge. The Model 70 is chambered specifically for this round, so compatibility is assured. Beyond that, we'd recommend consulting ballistics data and hunting guides for your specific game and range.
Does the Model 70 Super Grade come with a scope?
No scope is included. The Shadowline cheekpiece is designed to provide excellent eye alignment once you mount a scope of your choice, so you'll want to add optics separately.
Is the walnut stock sealed or finished?
We don't have finishing details for the stock in our specs. Contact us for specifics on maintenance and care for the Grade IV/V walnut.
Can I attach a sling to this rifle?
Yes. The Model 70 Super Grade has inletted sling swivel studs, so you can attach any standard two-point sling or carry system of your choice.
