The Winchester 70 Featherweight in .243 Win is a classic bolt-action rifle built for hunters who value handling, balance, and proven performance in the field. Chambered in .243 Winchester—a flat-shooting, low-recoil round ideal for varmint and medium game—this rifle carries forward Winchester's legacy of reliability with a modern trigger system and a lightweight profile that won't wear you out on a long day afield. At 6 lb 12 oz with a 22-inch barrel, it's quick to shoulder and easy to carry, making it a natural choice for upland hunting, predator control, or precision shooting on the range.
The action is built on Winchester's Pre-'64 style Controlled Round Feed system with a claw extractor that fully manages the cartridge from magazine to chamber to ejection—a design that has earned trust across generations. The forged steel receiver features an integral recoil lug and is bedded front and rear to keep your zero solid even under hard use. The cold hammer-forged, free-floating barrel wears a recessed target crown and comes from the factory ready to shoot straight; the 1:10 twist is optimized for the .243 cartridge. A three-position safety lets you know at a glance where you stand.
What sets the Featherweight apart is the fit and finish: satin-finish Grade I walnut stock with classic cut checkering and a schnabel forearm that feel right in your hands. The polished metal surfaces add elegance without sacrificing durability. Inside, the M.O.A. Trigger System delivers a clean break with zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel—the kind of precision trigger that makes accurate shooting effortless. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad rounds out the package, managing the mild recoil of the .243 so you stay steady for follow-up shots.
This is a rifle for hunters and shooters who understand that lighter, faster handling beats raw power, and that a well-built action with a great trigger matters more than the latest gadgetry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Winchester 70 Featherweight good for hunting medium game?
Yes. The .243 Winchester is a capable, flat-shooting cartridge suitable for deer and similar-sized game. The lightweight rifle and smooth action make it quick to aim, and the cold hammer-forged barrel delivers the accuracy needed for clean, ethical kills at reasonable hunting distances.
What makes the M.O.A. Trigger System special?
The M.O.A. Trigger offers zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel—meaning there's no slack before the break, no feel of movement during the squeeze, and no dead space after. This clean, predictable break makes precise shooting much easier, whether you're on the bench or in the field.
Does this rifle come with a scope?
No. The Winchester 70 Featherweight is sold as a bare rifle without optics. You'll need to mount a scope and rings separately, which allows you to choose a setup tailored to your hunting style and budget.
Will this rifle work with aftermarket stocks and accessories?
The rifle ships with a factory walnut stock and standard Winchester 70 bottom metal. Many aftermarket stocks and accessories are designed to fit the Winchester 70 platform, but fitment and compatibility should be verified with the manufacturer before purchase.
