The Winchester 1895 in .405 Win is a lever-action rifle that carries forward one of the most iconic designs in American firearms history. Originally introduced in 1895, this rifle earned its reputation as a dependable, powerful hunting platform—and the .405 Winchester cartridge was purpose-built for serious game at ranges where lever guns excel. If you're drawn to classic rifle mechanics, appreciate the smooth operation of a well-designed lever action, and want a rifle that handles like a dream in brush and timber, the Winchester 1895 delivers all of that with modern manufacturing quality.
This Grade 1 model sports a traditionally finished receiver and barrel in gloss blue and brushed polish steel, paired with black walnut furniture that gives the rifle its timeless profile. The stock geometry—with a drop at comb of 2⅞ inches and drop at heel of 3⅝ inches—is engineered for a repeating rifle's shooting posture, supporting quick target acquisition and follow-up shots that lever-gun hunters have relied on for generations.
The .405 Winchester cartridge is no novelty; it's a genuine medium-range hunting round with the horsepower to take large game. Pair this rifle with quality ammunition and skill at the trigger, and you have a hunting tool that works at the distances lever guns are meant to work at. The Winchester 1895 appeals to traditionalists, hunters who value mechanical simplicity and reliability, and anyone who appreciates fine American rifle engineering. Whether you're building a collection of classic arms or actively hunting with a gun that feels right in your hands, the 1895 in .405 Win is a choice that respects both the past and the hunt ahead.
