The Winchester 1886 Deluxe Case Hardened .45-70 lever action rifle is a modern reproduction of one of the most legendary designs in American firearms history. Built around the classic 1886 action that has proven itself across generations of hunters and shooters, this rifle delivers the smooth, reliable lever-gun experience serious hunters expect—especially those pursuing big game at intermediate ranges or working in brush country where a quick, confident follow-up shot matters. The .45-70 Government cartridge gives you serious stopping power in a package that handles like a much lighter rifle.
This Deluxe version sets itself apart with case-hardened receiver colors that recall the rifles Winchester made over a century ago. The deep blues and grays of case hardening catch light beautifully and give this gun genuine character—it's not just tooled, it's built to be noticed. Paired with a black walnut stock, the satin finish strikes a balance between show and substance: refined enough for the cabinet, tough enough for the field. The 24-inch barrel is the sweet spot for .45-70 ballistics and handling, keeping the rifle maneuverable without sacrificing velocity.
Straight-wall rifle calibers like .45-70 have seen a resurgence among hunters who value simplicity, raw knockdown power, and dependable iron sight shooting. This Winchester gives you that capability in a rifle that's genuinely pleasant to shoot—9 lbs 12 oz is substantial enough to manage recoil, but not so heavy that a long hunt becomes a burden. The bead front sight and semi-buckhorn rear keep your shooting authentic and fast, though the rifle's receiver top is drilled and tapped for mounting optics if you prefer modern glass. Eight rounds in the magazine give you reserve ammunition without excessive bulk.
Whether you're a lever-gun purist, a heritage cartridge enthusiast, or a hunter who wants a rifle that works as hard as it looks, the Winchester 1886 Deluxe Case Hardened in .45-70 delivers proven performance wrapped in genuine craftsmanship.
