The Winchester 1885 Hunter rimfire in .22 WMR is a modern interpretation of one of the most legendary single-shot rifle designs ever created. Based on John Moses Browning's original 1885 falling-block design, this contemporary Hunter model brings serious accuracy and mechanical elegance to rimfire shooting. Whether you're after small game, target work, or just want to own a piece of firearms history, the 1885's falling-block action delivers the precision and reliability that made the original a legend in late-19th-century competition shooting.

The .22 WMR chambering gives you notable velocity and downrange energy compared to standard .22 Long Rifle, especially from the 24-inch barrel. That barrel length is substantial enough to wring every bit of performance from the magnum rimfire cartridge while keeping overall dimensions reasonable—at 40 inches long and 7 pounds 8 ounces, it handles like a rifle built for actual hunting rather than a bench. The satin-checkered walnut stock and brushed-polished steel finish strike a balance between classic aesthetics and practical hunting wear.

At its core sits that stout falling-block action Winchester still refines today. The massive breech block and free-floating forearm contribute directly to the rifle's reputation for uncanny accuracy. Traditional open sights—brass bead front and semi-buckhorn rear—come standard, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases if you want to mount optics. The three-position hammer, adjustable trigger, and cartridge ejector system round out a design that prioritizes reliability and shooter control. Load one round, focus on the shot, and remember why one-shot rifles earned their respect.
