The Weatherby Mark V High Country in 28 Nosler is purpose-built for hunters who climb high and pack light. This bolt-action rifle strips away excess weight without sacrificing capability, starting at just 5.7 lbs—a genuine asset when the best country requires your legs to get you there. The 26" barrel delivers the velocity the 28 Nosler is known for, while a spiral fluted design reduces weight further. If you're serious about high-elevation hunts where every ounce counts, this rifle earns its place in your pack.
The foundation is Peak 44's Bastion carbon fiber stock, tipping the scales at only 24 oz and engineered with the shooter in mind. You get a vertical grip that feels natural under field conditions, plus dual front swivel studs so you can rig your rifle however your setup demands. Recoil management comes from an Accubrake and the 3DHEX Recoil pad—genuinely useful on a magnum, especially in a lightweight package where felt recoil can bite. The finish is all business: Graphite Black Cerakote across the barrel, receiver, trigger guard, bolt, bolt knob, and safety. The carbon fiber stock shows its own aesthetic with WYO brown and backpack sponge pattern accents—form that follows function.
This is a rifle for the backcountry hunter: someone who's willing to carry a quality tool up steep country because that country holds elk, mule deer, or sheep. The 28 Nosler cartridge delivers serious downrange energy without making you haul a lead pipe. The High Country isn't a target rifle; it's a mountain rifle, and Weatherby built it with that specific job in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Weatherby manage recoil on this 28 Nosler?
The rifle is fitted with an Accubrake and a 3DHEX Recoil pad. Even though the 28 Nosler is a magnum, this combination keeps felt recoil manageable—especially important in a lightweight rifle where recoil can otherwise be sharp.
