The Weatherby Mark V Backcountry Ti 2.0 in .257 Wby Mag with a 28" barrel is purpose-built for hunters who refuse to compromise between power and portability. This left-handed rifle combines a titanium Mark V action with modern weight-reduction engineering to deliver one of the most capable and packable magnum rifles available. Whether you're glassing ridges in steep terrain or setting up for a long-range shot, the Backcountry Ti 2.0 rewards you for every ounce you don't carry.
The frame of this rifle is Weatherby's lightweight titanium Mark V action, finished raw to showcase the precision machining. The barrel and bolt wear a black ceramic Cerakote finish and feature aggressive spiral fluting to shed weight and smooth operation. The stock is a Peak 44 Blacktooth carbon fiber design with a distinctive grey and white pattern—thin, stiff, and engineered to keep the overall package lean. At 5.6 lbs, you're looking at a genuine backcountry tool, not a compromise built on marketing.
Recoil management on a .257 Wby Mag at this weight matters, and Weatherby equipped the Ti 2.0 with the Accubrake ST muzzle brake. Thirty symmetrically spaced ports tame the magnum's push and make shooting pleasant even from field positions. The 3DHEX recoil pad—a 3D-printed design with progressive voids—extends the recoil impulse and absorbs the sharp kick. The bolt handle is aluminum, extended, and skeletonized. A fluted trigger guard and safety further reduce mass without sacrificing control or reliability.
This is a rifle that earns its place in your pack. The 28" barrel with a 1-in-10 twist rate stabilizes the .257 Wby's premium projectiles and delivers the velocity the cartridge was designed for. The 13.5" length of pull and standard drop dimensions suit most hunters, while the left-hand operation ensures you're not fumbling around a right-handed bolt. Three rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber keep you ready for the shot that matters.
