The Weatherby Mark V Apex 338 Wby RPM is a long-range hunting rifle that combines the legendary reliability of Weatherby's steel action with modern weight-saving engineering and recoil management technology. Built on the proven Mark V platform and chambered in 338 Weatherby Magnum, this 26-inch rifle is designed for hunters who refuse to compromise between raw stopping power and field-friendly handling. Whether you're hunting elk across high country or working precision targets at distance, the Apex delivers the accuracy and shooter comfort that serious hunters demand.
What sets the Apex apart is its thoughtful integration of premium components. The Peak 44 Bastion stock is among the lightest carbon fiber vertical-grip stocks in production, weighing just 23 ounces, while the ambidextrous palm swell and thumb groove promote consistent form across shooting positions. The fluted, two-tone cerakoted barrel (Coyote Tan and Graphite Black) trims weight without sacrificing rigidity, and a spiral-fluted bolt body reduces bearing surface for smoother cycling. The Weatherby Accubrake ST—featuring 30 symmetrically-spaced ports—is blended to match the muzzle profile and controls recoil impulse even in magnum chamberings.
The standout innovation here is the 3DHEX recoil pad, the industry's first 3D-printed pad with interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil. This extends the impulse over time and noticeably reduces felt recoil, allowing faster target reacquisition and better accuracy on follow-up shots—a real benefit in the field when conditions demand precision. Dual swivel studs on the forend give you flexibility in mounting slings and accessories. Finished in Coyote Tan and Graphite Black cerakote across the receiver, trigger guard, bolt, and bolt knob, the Apex looks as capable as it performs.
This is a rifle built for hunters who understand that lighter weight in the field translates to more energy for the hunt itself, and that managing recoil properly means better shot placement downrange. If you're serious about long-range hunting with a magnum cartridge, the Mark V Apex deserves a close look.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 338 Weatherby Magnum and what is it good for?
The 338 Weatherby Magnum is a powerful long-range magnum cartridge designed for big game hunting. Its combination of velocity and energy makes it effective for elk, moose, and other large game at extended distances. The Mark V Apex's recoil management features—the Accubrake ST and 3DHEX pad—make it more shootable than many other magnum rifles.
How much does the Weatherby Mark V Apex weigh?
While we don't have the total rifle weight, the Peak 44 Bastion stock is engineered to be among the lightest carbon fiber vertical-grip stocks in production at 23 ounces, and the fluted barrel and spiral-fluted bolt further reduce overall weight. This makes it significantly lighter than many competing long-range hunting rifles in magnum caliber.
What's included with the rifle?
The rifle comes equipped with the Peak 44 Bastion carbon fiber stock, Weatherby Accubrake ST, and 3DHEX recoil pad as standard. It features dual swivel studs on the forend for mounting slings and other accessories. Specific details about additional items included should be confirmed at the time of purchase.
Can I mount a scope on the Mark V Apex?
The Mark V Apex is built on the Weatherby Mark V steel action and is set up to accept standard rifle scope mounts. Confirm the specific mounting system and base compatibility with Bosque Outdoors before purchase.
