The Traditions Crackshot XBR .22 cal break-action rifle is a genuinely unique offering: it's a single-shot .22 designed for small game hunting that transforms into a centerfire arrow launcher thanks to a swappable upper receiver. If you've ever wished your rifle could do double duty—or just wanted to explore a different hunting platform without doubling your gear locker—this break-action rifle delivers exactly that flexibility. The package includes the Crackshot .22 rifle with a 16.5-inch barrel, the detachable XBR upper in .27 caliber long with a 20-inch barrel, a mounted 4x32 scope, and three Firebolt arrows to get you started.
The .22 side handles small game the way a lightweight rifle should: easy to carry, minimal recoil, and plenty of accuracy for plinking or hunting squirrel and rabbit. Swap to the XBR upper and you're shooting Traditions Firebolt arrows downrange at up to 385 feet per second—low recoil, low noise, and compatible with field tips or broadheads depending on your quarry. Both platforms use Traditions' Elite XT trigger system, which features a rebounding hammer and manual cross-bolt safety that lets you safely open the action and inspect or load the chamber.
The XBR's design keeps things practical: arrows load over a protected inner barrel, and the action breaks open to accept Traditions XBR Powerloads (sold separately). The rifle breaks down for cleaning and is built light enough to carry all day. This is the kind of versatile, do-it-yourself rifle that appeals to hunters who like having options and aren't afraid to think outside the conventional caliber box.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in the box with this Crackshot XBR package?
You get the Crackshot .22 rifle with 16.5-inch barrel, the detachable XBR upper in .27 caliber long with 20-inch barrel, a 4x32 scope mounted on the upper, and three Traditions Firebolt arrows. The package does not include XBR Powerloads or a quick-detach quiver—those are sold separately.
How do I switch between the .22 rifle and the arrow-shooting XBR upper?
The XBR upper is designed to swap onto the Crackshot rifle's break-action lower receiver. To fire arrows, load a Traditions Firebolt arrow over the inner barrel and insert a Traditions XBR Powerload into the action, then close it, disengage the safety, cock the hammer, and fire.
What arrows and ammunition does the Crackshot XBR require?
The XBR upper is designed exclusively for Traditions Firebolt Arrows (standard 16-inch aluminum arrows) paired with Traditions XBR Powerloads in .27 caliber long. The arrows are compatible with field tips, fixed broadheads, and mechanical broadheads. The .22 rifle uses standard .22 ammunition.
Is this rifle good for small game hunting?
Yes. The .22 Crackshot is lightweight and easy to carry, making it well-suited for hunting small game like squirrel and rabbit. The XBR upper offers an alternative platform for different hunting scenarios, with low recoil and low noise for versatile field use.
