The Taurus Tracker 627 is a medium-frame stainless steel revolver built for shooters who want a versatile, reliable sidearm in a proven caliber. Chambered in .357 Magnum with the ability to safely fire .38 Special +P rounds, this 4-inch barrel revolver splits the difference between portability and velocity — ideal for hunting, home defense, or range shooting where you want options without buying multiple guns. With seven rounds in the cylinder and a compact frame that doesn't sacrifice ergonomics, the Tracker 627 is a no-nonsense wheelgun that won't rust in the field.

Stainless steel construction means you can carry this revolver through rain, dust, and sweat without worrying about corrosion. The smooth trigger is clean in double-action or single-action mode, and the fixed front sight gets the job done without snags. At 28.8 ounces, it carries with authority without being a lead brick — heavy enough to manage recoil, light enough for all-day carry or long days afield. The ported barrel helps manage muzzle rise and recoil impulse, making follow-up shots faster and more accurate.

Taurus built this gun with the Security System Transfer Bar safety, a proven mechanical safeguard that prevents accidental discharge from impact or drop. The rubber grip provides genuine purchase, even wet, and the revolver's overall dimensions keep it from printing or creating snags in a holster or waistband carry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot .38 Special ammo in the Taurus Tracker 627?

Yes. The Tracker 627 is chambered in .357 Magnum and safely accepts .38 Special +P ammunition, giving you flexibility to load lighter .38 loads for reduced recoil or practice, then step up to full-power .357 Magnum rounds when you need it.

What makes the ported barrel worth having?

The ported barrel reduces muzzle rise and manages recoil impulse, which means faster, more accurate follow-up shots — especially useful in self-defense scenarios or rapid-fire hunting situations where split-second accuracy matters.

Is the Tracker 627 stainless steel revolver good for field carry?

Absolutely. Stainless steel resists rust and corrosion from rain, humidity, and sweat, making it ideal for hunting, camping, overlanding, or any field work where you won't have time to baby your gear. At 28.8 ounces with a compact frame, it's light enough for extended carry but substantial enough to manage .357 recoil and stay in the fight.

What safety features does this revolver have?

The Taurus Security System Transfer Bar is a mechanical safety that prevents accidental discharge from impact or drops — a proven design that keeps the gun safe during handling, carry, and use without requiring active manipulation.
