The Taurus 942 .22LR revolver with 2" barrel is a compact, lightweight eight-shot wheelgun built for shooters who want manageable recoil, straightforward operation, and genuine versatility. At just 17.80 oz, this small-frame revolver handles like a dream for concealed carry, recreational range work, and skills training—whether you're introducing a new shooter to centerfire concepts or practicing precision fundamentals without the kick of larger calibers.
What makes the 942 stand out is its balance of simplicity and capability. The dual-action/single-action trigger system gives you flexibility in how you want to shoot, while the transfer bar safety adds a layer of protection that lets you carry with confidence. The eight-round capacity in .22 LR means you've got more shots on tap than most compact revolvers, and the snappy 2" barrel keeps the gun truly pocketable without sacrificing shootability.
The matte stainless finish resists corrosion and fits the no-nonsense aesthetic of a working revolver. Fixed sights—a serrated ramp front and drift-adjustable rear—are reliable and require no batteries or maintenance. At 6.60 inches overall and 1.34 inches wide, the 942 tucks easily into a holster or bag. Whether you're heading to the range for an afternoon or looking for a lightweight trail companion, this Taurus revolver delivers honest .22 LR performance in a size that won't slow you down.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Taurus 942 .22LR good for concealed carry?
Yes. At 17.80 oz and 6.60 inches overall, the 942 is light and compact enough to carry daily. The transfer bar safety lets you safely carry a loaded cylinder, and the .22 LR round is controllable if you ever need to draw and shoot under stress. Many shooters use it as a deep-carry backup or primary gun depending on their comfort level.
Can I adjust the sights on this revolver?
The front sight is a fixed serrated ramp, but the rear sight is drift-adjustable. You can fine-tune windage (left/right) by carefully drifting the rear sight laterally. Elevation is fixed, so if you need significant up-and-down adjustment, you're working with where the gun shoots naturally.
What's the difference between double-action and single-action on this gun?
The Taurus 942 is a DA/SA revolver. In double-action mode, you pull the trigger to cock and release the hammer in one motion—useful for the first shot or in a defensive situation. Single-action means you manually cock the hammer before pulling the trigger for a shorter, lighter, more precise trigger pull—ideal for range shooting and precision work.
Is this revolver suitable for training and practice?
Absolutely. The low recoil of .22 LR, manageable size, and straightforward mechanics make the 942 a fine choice for building fundamental skills, teaching new shooters, or spending time at the range without fatigue. Eight rounds per reload cycle means less downtime between practice strings.
