The Taurus 856CH is a concealed-hammer .38 Spl +P revolver built for everyday carry and home defense. This hammerless revolver combines the reliability of a six-shot wheelgun with a snag-free profile and compact footprint—ideal for shooters who prioritize deep concealment and quick draw without snagging on clothing or holster material. The matte stainless steel finish across the frame, barrel, and cylinder resists corrosion while maintaining a professional, tactical appearance.
At 22 ounces and measuring just 6.55 inches overall, the 856CH delivers genuine concealability without sacrificing shootability. The 2-inch barrel is short enough for pocket or appendix carry yet long enough to generate adequate velocity from .38 +P ammunition. The soft rubber grip provides control and comfort during practice and defensive fire, while the double-action-only trigger offers a consistent press for accuracy. A transfer bar safety prevents unintended discharge if the revolver is dropped or struck.
The fixed rear sight and serrated ramp front sight are straightforward and durable—no adjustments needed, no batteries to fail. This revolver rewards good fundamentals: sight picture, trigger control, and practice. Whether you're building a backup gun, upgrading to a hammerless design for smoother carry, or seeking a reliable six-shot option, the 856CH delivers proven Taurus performance in a package sized right for concealed carry.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the 856CH and a standard hammer revolver?
The concealed hammer eliminates sharp edges and snag points, making the 856CH ideal for holster-less carry in a pocket or appendix position. The hammer is still present internally—the gun functions normally—but it's fully shrouded, so it won't catch on cloth or leather during the draw.
Is the 856CH suitable for concealed carry?
Yes. At 22 ounces, 6.55 inches long, and 1.41 inches wide, the 856CH is purpose-built for deep concealment. The matte stainless finish won't reflect light, and the hammerless profile eliminates printing and snagging concerns. Six rounds of .38 +P ammunition provide adequate capacity for self-defense.
What ammunition does the 856CH chamber?
The revolver is chambered in .38 Spl +P, a proven personal defense cartridge. It will also safely fire standard .38 Special rounds; +P ammunition is rated for modern steel-frame revolvers like this one.
Are the sights adjustable?
No. The 856CH features a fixed serrated ramp front sight and fixed rear sight. These are durable and reliable, requiring no adjustments or batteries. They're designed to support fundamental marksmanship at typical carry distances.
