The Taurus 856 .38 Special revolver with 3" barrel and front night sights is a compact defensive handgun built for concealed carry and personal protection. This 6-round revolver weighs just 16 ounces and measures 7.5 inches overall, making it easy to carry daily without sacrificing the reliability you need when it counts. The matte stainless finish resists corrosion, and the double-action/single-action trigger gives you versatility in how you want to shoot it—whether you're training at the range or carrying for self-defense.
The 3-inch barrel strikes a balance between shootability and concealability. It's short enough to draw quickly from an IWB holster or waistband carry but long enough to deliver consistent accuracy at defensive distances. Night sights with bright orange outline fronts help you acquire your target in low-light conditions, a real-world concern for home defense or after-dark carry. The silver finish brightens the gun slightly compared to darker alternatives, though it still maintains the practical matte surface that resists glare and fingerprints.
Taurus included Hogue rubber grips that provide solid control and help tame recoil from .38 Special +P loads. The fixed rear sight and front night sight combo means you get aiming capability out of the box—no sights to buy or install. At 1.41 inches wide, the gun is thin enough for strong IWB carry, and the small frame fits hands from compact to average without forcing you into an oversized grip. Whether you're looking for a nightstand gun, backup revolver, or lightweight everyday carry piece, the 856 delivers proven revolver reliability in a package you can actually carry consistently.
